About the Role

Portless is seeking an AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions for e-commerce and logistics use cases. You’ll work with technologies such as large language models (LLMs), computer vision, and predictive analytics to build AI-powered features that address real operational challenges.

You’ll own the machine learning lifecycle, from preparing data and training models to evaluating, deploying, and monitoring them in production. Working closely with product and engineering teams, you’ll help bring AI solutions into practical use while improving their performance over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy AI and machine learning models for logistics and e-commerce applications.
  • Develop solutions using large language models, computer vision, and predictive analytics.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver AI-powered features.
  • Manage the full machine learning lifecycle, including data preparation, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Monitor model performance in production and make improvements as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of intelligent systems that automate and optimize supply-chain operations.

Required Qualifications

  • At least four years of experience in AI or machine learning engineering.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Experience deploying machine learning models into production.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, e-commerce, or supply-chain technology.
  • Experience with LLM fine-tuning and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

Location & Work Arrangement

  • Fully remote position open across North America, with approximately six hours of working-time overlap with Eastern Time (ET).
  • Candidates based in Canada or Mexico must already hold U.S. work authorization.
  • Full-time engagement.

Salary & Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $180,000–$230,000.
  • Opportunity to help shape AI solutions in a fast-growing industry.
