Job Description
About Placer Solutions
Placer Solutions is a construction AI advisory and consulting firm based in Lake Oswego, Oregon. We work with general contractors and specialty contractors to make AI and Microsoft 365 workflows actually work inside estimating, preconstruction, and project operations. Our founder spent a decade at Bechtel, moving from construction management and engineering work to Innovation Manager, and co-founded a jobsite computer vision startup before launching Placer. We are small, senior, and hands-on, and our clients treat us as part of their team.
Position Summary
Placer Solutions is looking for a technical delivery lead responsible for executing implementation work across client engagements. Engagements vary widely in scope and subject matter; the constants are the Microsoft 365 environment and builds validated against real client data before acceptance. If you came up in the field or in a contractor's office and taught yourself the technical stack, that background is an advantage here, not a gap. You will work directly with the founder on every engagement and help shape how the firm delivers, with a path toward owning client engagements end to end as Placer grows.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical delivery lead on client engagements that vary significantly in scope, stack, and subject matter
- Design, build, and deploy solutions within client Microsoft 365 and other environments, ranging from structured workbook and SharePoint systems to AI-enabled workflows, automations, and system integrations
- Validate every build against real client data and iterate based on structured client feedback
- Produce build notes, decision logs, runbooks, and handover documentation that allow clients to own and operate delivered systems
- Participate in weekly client working sessions, demos, and acceptance reviews
- Adapt delivery to client environment constraints, including licensing limits, security policies, permission structures, and partially documented APIs
Required Qualifications (in priority order)
- Microsoft 365 as a build environment. Hands-on experience delivering solutions in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, with SharePoint and Power Platform at the core and exposure to some of Excel Online, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Graph, and Azure AI services. This is the environment most engagements run in and it is the top requirement for the role.
- The ability to design data systems people rely on, from advanced workbook builds (protected structures, validations, data dictionaries) to SQL, Power BI, and workflow automation platforms such as Power Automate or n8n, with proficiency in at least one of Power Query, Office Scripts, VBA, SQL, or comparable data pipeline tooling.
- Demonstrated capability in at least one of: (a) applied AI, meaning LLM workflows and agents, retrieval over document sets, structured extraction, and output evaluation; or (b) systems integration, meaning REST API integration with OAuth, middleware or iPaaS connectors, and schema mapping. Depth in both is a strong plus.
- Experience building inside someone else's environment and constraints, delivering within a structured engagement model, proving work against real data, and documenting decisions as you go.
Candidates should also bring 3+ years of experience in technical implementation, consulting delivery, or a comparable hands-on build role, and strong written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Depth in both the applied AI and systems integration areas described above
- Working familiarity with how contractors run work (estimating, budgets, cost codes, and project workflows), including prior work inside or alongside a general contractor or specialty contractor. Deep specialization is not required; we train the domain.
- Experience with construction platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BuildOps, Viewpoint Vista, or Sage Intacct, and comparable ERP and project management systems
- Prior consulting or professional services experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $90,000 to $140,000, depending on experience
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off and company holidays
- Remote-first work arrangement
Location and Travel
This position is remote within the United States. Occasional travel to client sites is expected, on the order of a few trips per year.
