Job Description

Job Description:AI Systems Engineer AKASoftware Engineer AKAGTM Engineer

Position Overview

Swivel is a start-up founded in 2018 by Simcha Kackley. Swivel has fewer than 10 highly engaged B2B clients with $10M–$200M in annual revenue, and our team immerses as their “growth team.” We manage it all: go-to-market strategy, buyer personas and journey mapping, demand gen and lead gen, and sales enablement. The goal is to help our clients drive predictable revenue through a more strategic, long-term approach.

Everything we do now runs on AI. Our outreach, list building, reporting and client operations are built and run with Claude, and all of our data lives in Postgres. We are moving off HubSpot and building our own Claude-built CRM on Postgres, connected to our outreach tools through APIs and MCP servers.

Swivel is looking for an AI-forward GTM Engineer to build and own that system: the CRM, the contact and account data inside it, and the lists that feed every outreach channel. You know Python and SQL well enough to direct Claude as it builds, review and approve every change before it ships, and keep our data clean and trustworthy. You are also the team’s safety net as non-developers make changes through Claude. Most importantly, you make this system work for every client: you take what we’ve built for Swivel and stand it up, adapt it and keep it running for each client program.

The goal is one number: the lowest cost per qualified, held meeting. Every lead, from any channel, should be identified, attributed, tied to its account, expanded to the right colleagues, and in an outreach motion within 60 seconds. We have proven the data model; your job is to make it act in real time and roll it out to every client.

This role works closely with the Founder, VP Ops and the entire team. It is a high-energy, fast-paced position that needs strong project management, sound decision making and the ability to juggle multiple client systems at once. You should feel comfortable brainstorming, working independently and collaborating as a team. You must be passionate about what you do and the people you work with.

Key Responsibilities

Client Rollout & Operations

  • Stand up the Swivel system for each client: their CRM data, contact and account model, audiences, outreach channels and reporting
  • Adapt the shared build to each client’s ICP, triggers, tools and rules without breaking what works for the others
  • Keep each client’s data separate, accurate and secure
  • Be the go-to technical owner when a client program needs a new audience, integration or report
  • Turn each new client setup into a repeatable playbook so the next one is faster

Real-Time Lead Activation

  • Run a single always-on capture layer: every lead source (ad forms, website, bookings, replies, account signals) lands in one endpoint, saved raw first so nothing is lost
  • Own the lead router: code that reads each client’s config (ICP rules, tiers, cadences, sequences, guardrails) and routes every lead within seconds
  • Make sure every action writes back to the CRM as an event (contacted, invite sent, replied), so speed-to-lead, cadence compliance and which sequence produced the meeting can be proven
  • Match every lead to its account (by email domain, organization name or enrichment), create the account when none exists, and queue the unclear ones for review
  • Expand to the buying committee: find which personas are missing at an account, buy only those, and dedupe against our own database before spending enrichment credits
  • Run phone and email waterfalls across providers, track every number’s source and cost, and score each provider on hit rate and right-party connects
  • Use Claude (via API) as a judgment layer for messy inputs: free-text answers, persona and role, unknown organizations, reply triage

Claude-Built CRM

  • Design, build and own Swivel’s Claude-built CRM on Postgres as we move off HubSpot
  • Model contacts, accounts and how they connect: one person, one record, tied to the right account, with every action, touch and lifecycle stage in one place
  • Migrate our data out of HubSpot cleanly, with nothing lost or duplicated
  • Build the views, lists and reports the team and clients use every day

List Building & GTM Systems

  • Build target account and contact lists from clear, re-checkable criteria (ICP fit, triggers like new hires, funding or expansion)
  • Run enrichment and research in Clay and similar tools, and validate emails and phone numbers before anything is sent
  • Feed audiences into every outreach channel (email, LinkedIn and calling) and keep them in sync with the CRM
  • Keep a clear record of every audience: who is in it, why, and what they’ve received

Code Ownership & Deployment

  • Own the code behind our CRM, data warehouse and automations in GitHub
  • Review and approve every code change before it goes live, whether Claude or a teammate wrote it
  • Deploy and monitor scripts and scheduled jobs (Railway or similar), and fix them fast when they break
  • Document every system so no single person is a point of failure

Safety Net for an AI-Built Stack

  • Be the final check when non-developers change systems through Claude
  • Set guardrails: test environments, backups, safe bulk-change rules and access permissions
  • Coach teammates to work safely with Claude and know when to escalate

Data Integrity

  • Design tables, keys and constraints so contact and account data stays accurate
  • Build checks for duplicates, missing fields, stale records and mismatches between systems
  • Capture attribution on every action (UTMs, click IDs, referrer, prior outbound touch, self-reported source), so every meeting traces back to what produced it

APIs & MCP Integrations

  • Connect our outreach and data tools to Postgres and to Claude through APIs and MCP servers
  • Build and maintain MCP servers so Claude can safely read and write the right data
  • Manage API keys, rate limits, webhooks and permissions

Project Management

  • Keep multiple client systems and builds on track and on budget
  • Prioritize fixes and improvements by business impact
The Ideal Candidate

Required

  • At least 3 years in software engineering, data engineering or GTM/revenue operations engineering
  • Working knowledge of Python: you can read, debug and improve scripts, even ones you didn’t write
  • Strong SQL and hands-on experience with Postgres or another relational database
  • Deep understanding of B2B contact and account data: how people, companies and their relationships should be modeled, matched, deduplicated and merged, and how leads are attributed and moved through lifecycle stages
  • Experience owning a codebase in Git/GitHub: reviewing and approving changes, and deploying and monitoring scripts in the cloud
  • Experience working with REST APIs (authentication, pagination, rate limits, webhooks) and building event-driven systems: background workers, queues and real-time triggers
  • Hands-on, daily use of AI coding tools (Claude, Claude Code, Cursor or similar), with good judgment about when AI output is right and when it isn’t
  • Understanding of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), or the ability to get up to speed quickly
  • Ability to explain technical work clearly to non-technical teammates and clients
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines quickly and efficiently

Strongly Preferred

  • Clay experience: building tables, email and phone enrichment waterfalls and research workflows, with a sharp eye for credit cost
  • Building B2B prospect lists and audiences for outbound across email, LinkedIn and calling
  • Experience with GTM systems and outreach tools such as Brevo, First Touch, Salesfinity or Instantly

Nice to Have

  • Experience building a CRM, or migrating one off HubSpot or Salesforce
  • Experience building or configuring MCP servers
  • Experience with workflow automation tools such as n8n
  • B2B agency experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
Attributes
  • Excited about AI and a start-up environment
  • Skeptical in a healthy way: you verify before you trust, whether it’s data or AI output
  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency and desire to succeed
  • Process oriented, with great attention to detail and an eye for the big picture
  • Fast learner who proactively tackles challenges
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects
  • Above-average listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player
Perks
  • Quarterly bonuses
  • Highly rated healthcare: medical, vision and dental benefits
  • Company-matched 401(k)
  • Quarterly personalized 1:1 and group sessions with our team leadership coach
  • Flexible schedule, mostly remote
  • Union Hall (Cincinnati, Ohio) membership with free downtown parking
  • Weekly team lunches
  • Monthly team events like bowling, ax throwing and more
  • Team events that give back to the community (e.g., Adopt a Class)
  • Be an integral part of a growing, small Cincinnati agency with a unique value proposition
  • Work hands-on with the latest AI tools every day, and help shape how an AI-first agency runs
  • Work alongside smart, talented people who will push you and help you grow
  • Build experience across a wide range of businesses and industries
  • Learn skills that span the entire revenue cycle
