Job Description
Associate Attorney – Plaintiff-Side Litigation
Fully Remote | California
$170,000–$250,000 Base Salary
We are representing a highly accomplished California plaintiff-side trial boutique seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its practice.
This is not a high-volume personal injury environment. The firm handles sophisticated, high-value cases involving catastrophic injuries and life-altering events, with a growing concentration in sexual abuse and sexual assault litigation.
The opportunity offers a compelling combination of meaningful case responsibility, direct mentorship from highly experienced plaintiff trial attorneys, long-term autonomy, and the flexibility of a fully remote practice.
The ideal candidate is an experienced plaintiff-side litigator who enjoys substantive case work, wants meaningful ownership over their matters, and is looking for a firm where they can continue developing as a trial attorney while building a long-term career.
The Practice
The firm's current caseload includes:
- Sexual abuse and sexual assault litigation — approximately 50–60% of the practice
- Catastrophic personal injury
- Wrongful death
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Product liability
- Premises liability
- Serious automobile and bicycle matters
- Other complex, high-value plaintiff litigation
What You'll Do:
Depending on experience, the attorney will have substantial responsibility for developing and litigating cases, including:
- Manage plaintiff-side litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution
- Develop case strategy alongside experienced trial attorneys
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and substantive litigation documents
- Handle written discovery and discovery disputes
- Take and defend depositions
- Work directly with experts, investigators, and other litigation professionals
- Analyze complex liability, causation, and damages issues
- Maintain meaningful client relationships and provide case guidance throughout the litigation process
- Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and other alternative dispute resolution
- Prepare matters for trial and participate in trial proceedings based on experience
- Assume increasing case ownership and autonomy as experience and trust develop
Qualifications:
- Active California Bar license in good standing
- Meaningful plaintiff-side litigation experience
- Strong civil litigation, research, and legal writing skills
- Hands-on experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice
- Ability to independently manage litigation responsibilities and deadlines
- Strong analytical, communication, and case-management skills
- Experience involving personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, sexual abuse, product liability, or other complex plaintiff litigation is highly relevant
- Trial experience is a plus
Compensation:
Base Salary: $170,000–$250,000 annually
Compensation within the range will depend on experience, litigation background, skills, qualifications, and level of case responsibility.
Additional bonus compensation is available.
Benefits & Flexibility:
- Fully remote within California
- Blue Shield Platinum healthcare — 100% of employee coverage paid by the firm
- Vision insurance
- Life insurance
- Bonus opportunity
- Direct access to experienced plaintiff trial attorneys
- Significant long-term opportunity for case ownership and professional autonomy
Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
This is an opportunity for an experienced plaintiff attorney who wants to work on serious, meaningful cases without being part of a volume-driven PI practice.
The firm offers the resources and mentorship necessary to continue developing as a trial attorney, while its small-team structure gives attorneys direct access to leadership, meaningful responsibility, and increasing autonomy as they grow.
For the right attorney, this can be a long-term home within a sophisticated plaintiff-side practice while maintaining the flexibility of fully remote work.
