Reports to: Director of Brand Protection & IP Enforcement
Location: Remote (US)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000
About Intake Breathing
Intake Breathing is a DTC health and wellness startup helping people breathe better through our subscription-based nasal breathing device. Our customers don't just buy a product. They adopt a practice that transforms their sleep, recovery, and daily life.
As we've scaled, protecting that product and the brand behind it has become mission-critical. This year alone, our Brand Protection department has driven 16,000+ enforcement actions, blocked an estimated $6.6M in counterfeit revenue, and expanded our trademark and patent portfolio into 20+ countries. We're looking for someone to own the day-to-day operation of that enforcement program so it can keep scaling with us.
The Role
The Brand Protection Manager owns the day-to-day execution of Intake's brand protection and IP enforcement operations — managing our enforcement team, running marketplace compliance and appeals, and keeping the systems and documentation behind it all running smoothly, without requiring constant oversight.
This role reports to the Director of Brand Protection & IP Enforcement, who owns strategy, litigation, IP portfolio decisions, the legal budget, and legal/regulatory compliance. This role owns the operational layer underneath that — it's the first management layer in a department that's actively scaling.
This is a hands-on role that combines people management, marketplace operations, and judgment under volume. You'll be trusted to run the team, make the daily calls, and know when something needs to come to the Director instead.
What You'll Own
Enforcement Execution
- Lead day-to-day takedown execution across platforms and regions
- Ensure actions are timely, defensible, and properly documented
- Identify patterns in counterfeit activity and repeat bad actors, and flag them to the Director for strategic action
- Work inside Shoalvex (our proprietary enforcement platform) as the primary system of record for case management and monitoring
Marketplace & Platform Compliance
- Own compliance responses and appeals across Amazon and other marketplaces, including reinstatement appeals that require written narratives and supporting documentation (screenshots, invoices, brand documentation)
- Manage escalations and remediation plans for account or listing-level actions
- Flag platform policy changes or emerging risk to the Director
Team Building & Training
- Onboard and train enforcement team members once hired — every hire to date has started with zero brand protection background, so this role owns getting new hires productive
- Define day-to-day role expectations and coach reps against them
- Maintain and update our Trainual process library as SOPs evolve, so training doesn't depend on tribal knowledge
Operating Rhythm & Reporting
- Own the team's daily accountability standard, reviewed on a trailing weekly average
- Run regular check-ins with the team and directly follow up with reps trending below standard
- Report team performance, appeal outcomes, and takedown volume to the Director on a consistent cadence
- Escalate ambiguous judgment calls or anything requiring legal input to the Director rather than guessing; independently manage everything else
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, or IP enforcement experience — you've personally done takedowns, appeals, or case investigation, not just managed people who do
- Direct experience with Amazon Brand Registry, Seller Central, or marketplace enforcement/appeals processes
- People management experience, ideally with distributed or remote teams
- Strong written communication — appeals and escalations often come down to how clearly and persuasively the case is made in writing
- Working familiarity with IP concepts — trademarks, copyright, DMCA takedowns, counterfeit identification
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, and sound judgment about when to solve something yourself versus escalate
Nice to have:
- Experience with multiple marketplaces beyond Amazon (Walmart, eBay, Etsy, TikTok Shop, etc.)
- Background in e-commerce operations or seller support
- Exposure to brand protection platforms or tools (Shoalvex, MarkMonitor, Red Points, or similar)
- Familiarity with international enforcement or trademark filing processes
- Paralegal or legal support background
- ADA/web accessibility compliance experience (WCAG standards, accessibility audits, or remediation work) — we're building out this function within the department and this is a real plus, not a requirement
Why This Role
This role owns the operational backbone of brand protection at Intake. You'll have direct responsibility for the team that keeps counterfeiters off our marketplaces, builds the appeals that protect our seller accounts, and turns brand-new hires into productive enforcement professionals.
Success in this role means becoming the trusted owner of day-to-day enforcement operations — running the team, the standard, and the process well enough that the Director can spend his time on litigation, IP strategy, and legal compliance instead of managing queues.
