Cloud Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join a global IT and business consulting firm supporting enterprise clients in financial services and other industries.

This is a hands-on senior position. You will shape cloud architecture decisions, set standards for automation and security, lead migrations from on-premises data centers and mentor other engineers. You will also be the go-to technical voice for cloud infrastructure on your project team, presenting designs and recommendations to client stakeholders.

What you will do

• Design and implement GCP environments for reliability, scalability and security, with a focus on AI/ML workflows on Vertex AI.
• Lead migrations of applications and workloads from on-premises data centers to GCP, from assessment and planning through cutover and optimization.
• Own the reliability of production GCP platforms: monitoring, alerting, incident response, capacity planning and cost optimization.
• Build and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure pipelines and zero-touch automation.
• Develop reusable GCP patterns such as landing zones, Terraform modules and project/folder structures.
• Establish and manage security controls and governance (IAM, Organization Policies, VPC Service Controls, Security Command Center).
• Mentor engineers and guide data scientists and ML engineers on GCP and Vertex AI best practices.
• Work with business and technology teams to align platform capabilities with organizational goals.

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, including architecting and operating GCP environments at scale.
• Deep hands-on expertise in GCP: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud Build, IAM and VPC.
• Advanced Terraform skills for GCP; familiarity with Ansible and Git.
• Hands-on experience with Vertex AI and a strong understanding of AI/ML workflows.
• Familiarity with agentic systems and emerging protocols such as MCP and Agent2Agent (A2A).
• Advanced knowledge of Linux (RHEL) and Python for automation.
• Experience with DevSecOps, zero-touch automation and shift-left security practices.
• Strong knowledge of GCP networking (Shared VPC, Cloud Interconnect/VPN, Private Service Connect) and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) for testing.
• Clear communication skills and comfort presenting to client stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Google Cloud Professional certifications: Cloud Architect, Cloud DevOps Engineer, Cloud Security Engineer or Machine Learning Engineer.
• Experience with AWS or Azure and their AI platforms (SageMaker, Bedrock, Copilot).
