Job Description

About The Company

ARCTICOM LLC provides technology and mission-support services to government and commercial customers. Its capabilities include network and systems administration, enterprise architecture and resource planning, certification and accreditation, software design and programming, telecommunications and land mobile radio maintenance, help desk support, and IT transformation. ARCTICOM LLC brings together technical expertise and practical problem-solving to help customers operate, secure, and modernize complex environments.

About The Role

ARCTICOM LLC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the architecture, implementation, and optimization of secure cloud environments. This is a remote position focused on developing scalable solutions that align with mission needs, engineering standards, cybersecurity requirements, and program objectives. The Cloud Engineer will promote DevOps practices, evaluate cloud performance and cost, and advise technical teams and leadership on architecture and modernization decisions. The role also supports monitoring and data capabilities, including interfaces, workflows, generative AI, and large language models. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree or seven years of equivalent experience is required, along with at least seven years of experience across cloud computing, including compute, storage, platforms, data, and security. Candidates must demonstrate experience implementing large-scale cloud environments and hands-on capability in cloud service architecture, technical design, and implementation, including infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance; an active Secret clearance is preferred.

Qualified candidates bring deep knowledge of one or more major cloud platforms, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, or Google Cloud, preferably in large-scale deployments. Additional qualifications include cloud cost optimization; automation using tools or languages such as CLI, Python, Ruby, or PowerShell; and familiarity with Direct Connect, Private Link, VPNs, and other public-cloud connectivity solutions. Candidates should understand infrastructure automation, CI/CD, networking, storage, cloud delivery models, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, web security, and firewalls. Experience with autoscaling, load balancing, disaster recovery, SSO or federation, and configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible is important. Applicants should also understand cloud-native, vendor-agnostic, and cloud-ready application development, cloud governance, monitoring, application performance management, and operational dashboards. Agile development experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and develop cloud architecture that supports program and mission requirements. Assess proposed and existing environments for scalability, security, resilience, interoperability, and alignment with engineering and cybersecurity standards. Apply sound logic and data-driven reasoning to compare technical options, identify risks and trade-offs, and recommend effective solutions. Review cloud analytics and operational data to identify opportunities for performance improvement, cost optimization, and more efficient service delivery.

Promote DevOps engineering principles across the portfolio and collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity specialists, program teams, and leadership. Provide technical advice on cloud strategy, design, implementation, and operations. Build and improve monitoring solutions and cloud capabilities, including data interfaces, workflows, and emerging AI and LLM applications. Apply systems engineering practices, including digital twin concepts, modeling, and simulation, to strengthen systems-of-systems technology environments. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

This remote opportunity offers the chance to contribute to meaningful technology and mission-support work while collaborating with experienced technical and program teams. The position is primarily performed in an office-based setting with extensive computer use and requires ongoing mental alertness and situational awareness. Typical work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Central Time; additional hours may be required, and schedules may change at management’s discretion. Reasonable accommodation may be available to support qualified individuals in performing essential job functions. Employment is contingent on successful completion of required pre-employment drug screening and an acceptable background check. Contract requirements may also require maintaining an appropriate clearance and obtaining access to military installations. Applicants will generally be notified by phone or email within ten business days of submitting an application.

Equal Opportunity

ARCTICOM LLC is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will receive consideration without regard to any status protected by applicable state or federal law or any other basis prohibited by law. Bering Straits Native Corporation provides hiring, promotion, training, and retention preference to qualifying BSNC shareholders, shareholder descendants, and shareholder spouses who meet the minimum qualifications for the position.
