About the role

Contragenix LLC seeks an experienced on-site Construction Superintendent / SSHO to manage safety, quality, schedule, subcontractor coordination and daily documentation for a U.S. Air Force construction project in an operating dining facility. The superintendent is the primary on-site representative, reporting to a Project Manager and Principal.

Construction scope

  • Exterior: hand-locate utilities near natural gas, water and thermal lines; excavate and install a 90-gallon, 75 GPM stainless-steel grease interceptor with pea gravel bedding, inlet/outlet piping, vent and cleanouts; build a 10 ft × 9 ft × 4 in reinforced concrete pad and four 4-inch concrete-filled bollards; complete wall drain penetration, brick patching, turf and sidewalk restoration.
  • Interior: remove old in-cabinet grease trap; disconnect/reconnect sinks, faucets, dishwasher and affected receptacles; replace approximately 35 linear feet of base cabinets and install solid-surface countertops; complete drywall, paint, floor tile and cove-base patches.
  • Protect the occupied commercial kitchen and coordinate with True Tex Plumbing and other subcontractors. Upper cabinets, ceilings, lights, new circuits, replacement sinks/dishwasher, whole-room flooring and kitchen equipment are excluded absent written authorization.

Key responsibilities — site operations

  • Open and secure the site; arrive first and leave last; brief crews, sequence trades, keep entrances/exits accessible and food-preparation areas protected; maintain daily cleanup.
  • Maintain the three-week look-ahead, verify next-day labor/material readiness, and report schedule slips to the PM immediately.
  • Inspect deliveries against approved submittals for product, quantity, condition and country-of-manufacture labeling; reject incorrect/damaged materials.
  • Admit subcontractors only with current insurance verified through the PM; monthly verify G703 work-in-place percentages and report within two working days.
  • Maintain approved parking/laydown; no parking on turf; keep fire lanes and 15-foot hydrant clearances open.

Safety and quality control

  • Act as SSHO under the Accident Prevention Plan, EM 385-1-1, OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and AFMAN 91-203. Orient each worker; lead daily safety talks and sign-ins; obtain signed task Activity Hazard Analyses.
  • Inspect daily and document weekly safety inspections covering excavations/trenches, barricades, ladders, tools/GFCI, PPE, housekeeping, fire protection, hot work and lifting; act as or verify excavation competent person; stop unsafe work immediately.
  • For injury, near miss, property damage, utility strike or fire: assist injured, secure and preserve scene/photos, and notify PM and Obi immediately. Base phone emergency: 911; cell: 325-654-7000; CE Service Call: 325-654-3436.
  • Perform preparatory, initial and follow-up quality inspections for each feature of work; enforce hold points for locates, excavation, interceptor bedding/elevation, concrete rebar/base, leak tests, cabinet layout/access, countertop installation and final operational tests.
  • Maintain deficiencies and photo-documented punch-list closure; accompany Government inspections and report findings the same day.

Base compliance, changes and reporting

  • Coordinate with Sub contractors and PM; perform utility shutdowns only under approved outage.
  • Verify workers are on Base Access List and carry ID; use authorized contractor gate off Chadbourne; restrict access to work zone; return passes; do not adjust HVAC controls.
  • Send questions, RFIs, hidden conditions and Government requests to PM with photos/measurements the same day; pause affected work until written direction. Only PM sends Government RFIs.
  • Changed work requires written PM confirmation of signed modification and Obi release. For urgent Contracting Officer-directed work, keep separate daily signed time/material tickets and send to PM; never sign subcontractor extra-work tickets.
  • Submit daily report by 5:00 p.m. with weather, names/headcounts/hours by company, work locations, equipment/hours, deliveries, inspections, visitors, safety, delays, Government requests and at least 10 dated photos. Maintain certified-payroll matching names, fuel logs, landfill/recycling tickets, red-line as-builts, and posted Davis-Bacon documents.
  • Complete pre-final walk and punch list; coordinate O&M training, Government inspection, as-built turnover, demobilization, restoration and base pass returns.

Required qualifications

  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction card (mandatory for SSHO).
