Data Architect with AI

LOCATION: Rosemont, Illinois - Hybrid, 2-3 days per week in office

REPORTS TO: Senior Manager of Data/AI

ANTICIPATED BASE SALARY: $140,000-$160,000 + Bonus: up to 15%

This is a chance to be on the ground floor of creating new enterprise data architecture for an established firm that recently went public.

Position Summary

We seek a local Enterprise Data/AI Architect to help build and operate our enterprise data analytics and enterprise artificial intelligence capabilities across a decentralized global business.

As a newly independent public company with a diverse global technology landscape, there is a significant opportunity to improve how data is integrated, governed, analyzed, and used to support business decisions. The environment includes multiple ERP platforms and operational data sources across the business, creating both complexity and an opportunity to establish a modern enterprise data foundation.

This role will lead the development of the enterprise data and analytics platform, including the integration and unification of data across divisions, ERP systems, and other business applications.

This individual will be expected to work directly with data models, pipelines, Power BI, architecture, and technical problem-solving. As the organization matures, the role will increasingly focus on architecture, governance, leadership, prioritization, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Build the Enterprise Data Platform

• Participate in the design and development of the new enterprise data platform, integrating information from multiple ERP systems, operational applications, financial systems, and other data sources.
• Help define and implement an appropriate modern cloud data architecture using technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Databricks, or comparable platforms.
• Establish scalable data ingestion, transformation, storage, semantic modeling, and reporting patterns that can be reused as additional divisions are onboarded.

AI Solution Architecture & Delivery

• Support Senior Manager Data/AI for selected AI initiatives, including discovery, requirements, prototyping, architecture, development, testing, deployment, adoption, and support.
• Design and integrate AI-enabled solutions with enterprise data, Microsoft 365, ERP systems, CRM platforms, document repositories, APIs, databases, workflow platforms, and other business applications.
• Develop or guide generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent-based, intelligent automation, and related solutions using appropriate coded and low-code approaches.
• Establish reusable solution patterns, development standards, source-control practices, testing methods, evaluation criteria, documentation requirements, and deployment processes.

Training, Adoption & AI Enablement

• Help develop reusable training materials, implementation guides, responsible-use guidance, examples, and self-service resources that make approved AI capabilities easier to adopt safely.

Partner with Applications & Business Leadership

• Assist technology leaders on the broader enterprise applications, data, integration, analytics, automation, and AI roadmap.
• Engage directly with senior business and divisional leaders to understand opportunities, challenge assumptions, present recommendations, and move approved initiatives forward.

Required Qualifications

• 5-15 years of progressive experience in data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, data architecture, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks.
• Experience with semantic modeling, dimensional modeling, DAX, security, performance, and enterprise deployment practices.
• Strong understanding of data engineering, including SQL, ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, transformation, integration, and data quality.
• Experience designing or implementing modern cloud-based data platforms, data lakes, lakehouses, or enterprise data warehouses.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, relational data concepts, master/reference data, data architecture, and enterprise reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in an environment that is evolving, decentralized, and not yet fully standardized.
• Recent hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying, or operating production generative AI, machine-learning-enabled, agentic, or intelligent automation solutions.
• Experience integrating AI or automation solutions with enterprise applications, structured data, document repositories, APIs, and business workflows.
