Data Engineer

A seed-stage, investor-backed startup in NYC is building the operating system for sports sponsorship, working with pro soccer and minor league baseball clubs and the brands that sponsor them. They are hiring their first full-time engineer, a hands-on Founding Data Engineer who works directly with the CTO.

What you'll do

• Own ingestion of messy customer data from spreadsheets, CRMs, contracts and APIs
• Build entity resolution, deduplication and record matching that turns inconsistent sources into one canonical model
• Design the data warehouse and Postgres data model from scratch
• Use LLMs to extract structured data from sponsorship contracts
• Automate customer onboarding and explain the data to non-technical clients

What we're looking for

• 2 to 6 years as a data engineer, or a backend engineer doing mostly data work
• Built production data systems from scratch in Python and SQL, ideally at a seed to Series A or small company
• Hands-on ETL/ELT, migrations, dedup and entity resolution
• Postgres plus a cloud warehouse (BigQuery preferred), GCP a plus
• Ships with AI coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor (a plus)

Details

• Base salary $180K to $220K plus up to 1% equity
• Hybrid, 3 days a week in the Flatiron, NYC office
• Must be a US citizen or green card holder (no visa sponsorship)
