Data Engineer, Sr. (Python) - Remote

The organization operates in the Media & Entertainment industry and is developing a next-generation data platform to support complex data flows, business applications, and downstream analytics.

About the Role

The organization is seeking a Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer to help build and scale its data platform. This remote contract position will focus on designing, building, and operating the foundational infrastructure that supports data ingestion, transformation, retention, and delivery to downstream systems and executive decision-makers.

The engineer will work primarily in AWS, collaborating with data pipeline developers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to establish the technical roadmap and make core data architecture decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve data architecture supporting real-time and batch data movement, primarily within AWS.
• Build normalization and transformation pipelines that reconcile data from approximately 10 different sources while preserving raw data.
• Implement and manage streaming and batch data ingestion using technologies such as Kafka, Flink, and Debezium.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code for pipeline components using tools such as Terraform.
• Build and manage near-real-time data movement alongside batch and export-based ingestion.
• Work with source data from box office vendors, internal metadata applications, and unstructured contract artifacts.
• Collaborate with data pipeline developers and business stakeholders to define the technical roadmap.
• Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to determine how retained data will support historical analysis and forecasting.
• Advise on architecture decisions where infrastructure overlaps across related projects, maximizing reuse and efficiency.
• Collaborate with CRM-focused business solutions teams on data integration points, including platforms such as Salesforce.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS as the primary working environment.
• Experience with streaming and change-data-capture technologies, including tools such as Kafka, Flink, and Debezium.
• Experience working with source databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in Java or Python for data application development.
• Experience designing data normalization and transformation logic across multiple disparate data sources.
• Ability to design data infrastructure for long-term retention and downstream analytics and forecasting use cases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with lakehouse architecture and tools such as Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, and AWS Lake Formation.
• Exposure to integrating CRM platforms such as Salesforce as a data source or destination.

Contract Details & Compensation

• Contract position.
• Hourly compensation: $70–$85.
