About the RoleWe are hiring a Deployment Engineer & Support Manager to own our San Francisco facility and keep our robots running in the field across the region. You will be the hands-on owner of everything that happens after a robot leaves the factory: getting it deployed and customers trained, fixing it when something goes wrong, and bringing it back to like-new condition when a lease ends.
Responsibilities- Own day-to-day operations of our SF facility, including safety, organization, access, and upkeep of tools and work areas
- Manage inventory of spare parts, robots, and equipment: receiving, tracking, cycle counts, and reordering so parts are on hand when the field needs them
- Keep accurate records of every robot's condition and service history
- Take support calls from customers and site crews, troubleshoot issues remotely, and decide when a site visit is needed
- Travel to customer job sites in your region to diagnose and repair robots, often on active solar and construction sites
- Document issues, root causes, and fixes clearly, and escalate recurring problems to engineering as actionable tickets
- Meet response time commitments and keep customers informed until each issue is closed
- Inspect robots returning from lease, assess wear and damage, and estimate repair needs
- Repair, retrofit, and upgrade returned robots with new hardware or software revisions so they are ready for the next customer
- Follow and help improve standard refurbishment checklists and quality checks
- Deliver, set up, and commission robots at new customer sites
- Train customer operators and site leads on safe operation, daily checks, and basic troubleshooting
- Experience as a field service technician, robotics technician, or similar role maintaining electromechanical equipment
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems, including reading schematics and using a multimeter
- Comfort working with batteries, motors, sensors, and embedded controllers
- Experience managing parts inventory or running a shop, warehouse, or service facility
- Clear, calm communication with customers over the phone and on site, including training non-technical operators
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing requests, and own outcomes without close supervision
- Experience leading customer deployments, installations, or commissioning
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors on active job sites in varied weather
