Candidates should have over five years of comprehensive full-stack development experience, demonstrating proficiency in backend and frontend technologies. Familiarity with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL, along with experience in test automation using Selenium/WebDriver, is also necessary. Candidates must have solid DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization with Docker, orchestration with Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Eligibility for a Public Trust clearance and the ability to pass federal background screening are mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services utilizing Python frameworks such as Django and FastAPI, Java with Spring Boot or Quarkus, and Node.js with Express or NestJS.
  • Create secure REST and GraphQL APIs to support interoperability across NIH systems and facilitate seamless data exchange.
  • Develop modern, responsive front-end applications using React or Angular, adhering to USWDS and Section 508 accessibility standards to ensure usability for all users.
  • Implement comprehensive automated testing strategies using Selenium/WebDriver to enable cross-browser compatibility and regression testing.
  • Operate, monitor, and optimize AWS cloud environments, including services like EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, IAM, CloudFront, and Lambda functions.
  • Build, monitor, and enhance CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to ensure efficient and reliable deployment processes.
  • Manage and optimize MongoDB clusters, focusing on schema design, indexing, performance tuning, backup strategies, and replication to ensure high availability and data integrity.
  • Support relational databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability.
  • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for repeatable, secure deployment of infrastructure components.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using tools like CloudWatch, ELK/OpenSearch, and other observability tools to maintain system health and performance.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and configuration standards to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
