DevOps Specialist

Location: Detroit, Michigan (Hybrid)

Role Overview

An experienced technology partner is seeking a skilled DevOps Specialist to join a dynamic engineering division. The successful candidate will build, test, and maintain the infrastructure and tools required for software development, deployment, and release. This role focuses on accelerating software releases, minimizing deployment risks, and automating critical aspects of the software lifecycle through robust continuous integration and delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and advocate for DevOps methodologies across the product lifecycle for diverse software components.
• Accelerate software release cycles while maintaining rigorous security standards and mitigating deployment risks.
• Optimize the feedback loop between end-users and development teams by leveraging continuous integration, continuous deployment, and continuous feedback systems.
• Assess current development processes and infrastructure to identify, design, and implement automation improvements.
• Utilize enterprise-grade platform tools and cloud infrastructure to support consistent DevOps practices.
• Facilitate smooth software deployments and releases across production, testing, and sandbox environments.
• Identify innovation opportunities to streamline pipeline efficiency and enhance system troubleshooting workflows.
  
  

Required Qualifications

Education: Relevant industry experience and technical proficiency are prioritized.

Experience: Five or more years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or a dedicated DevOps role.

Technical Skills: Deep proficiency in Linux and Windows system administration, along with at least seven years of experience utilizing GitHub and Jenkins. Candidates must possess five or more years of experience working with Python and cloud infrastructure, and at least three years of experience with Google Cloud Platform.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least three years of experience utilizing Azure cloud environments.
• Prior experience developing and building software within embedded systems environments.
• Demonstrated leadership experience guiding technical teams or project initiatives.
• Strong scripting capabilities utilizing Bash or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with container observability and log management tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or Elastic Stack.
• Experience with configuration management platforms including Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
