Every day, the Chamber works to strengthen our local economy, support businesses, develop leaders, and make our community a better place to live and work. There are incredible stories behind that work, and we need someone who knows how to tell them.
The Director of Marketing & Community Relations will lead the charge in shaping how the Chamber is seen, heard, and understood throughout the community. This person will be responsible for developing a strong, recognizable brand, bringing our mission to life through compelling written and visual content, and showcasing the businesses, people, and initiatives that make our community thrive.
Primary Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the Membership Director to develop targeted marketing strategies that drive new member recruitment.
- Develop and manage the Chamber's content calendar, coordinating messaging, campaigns, and promotions across social media, email, website, and other communication channels.
- Plan and execute assigned public-facing Chamber events, such as Breaking Barriers Breakfast and Meet the Candidates.
6. Conceptualize, design, and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital and print platforms to promote Chamber membership, programs, initiatives, and events, including:

- Create and distribute email marketing communications, including newsletters, event promotions, member announcements, and other organizational updates, in collaboration with appropriate Chamber staff.
- Maintain and update the Chamber's website using WordPress, ensuring content is accurate and relevant while identifying opportunities to improve the website's functionality, content, and overall user experience.
- Capture photo and video content independently or in collaboration with external partners, and strategically incorporate these assets into marketing and storytelling efforts.
7. Write and distribute press releases, media pitches, feature stories, and other public relations materials to generate positive awareness.
8. Track and analyze marketing performance, including website traffic, social media engagement, email analytics, and campaign results, using insights to refine strategies and improve effectiveness.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Community Relations & Legislative Affairs
- Identify opportunities to elevate the Chamber's visibility and strengthen its reputation through community partnerships, media engagement, and creative outreach initiatives.
- Research, monitor, and summarize relevant legislation, policy changes, and government actions, translating complex information into clear, accessible reports, updates, and educational content for Chamber members.
- Work collaboratively with Chamber leadership, the Governmental Relations Council, elected officials, and community partners to identify issues affecting the local business community and communicate the Chamber's advocacy priorities and efforts.
- Coordinate legislative engagement opportunities, including meetings with elected officials, legislative roundtables, candidate forums, and other initiatives that connect businesses with government leaders.
- Serve as a key representative of the Chamber in community and public relations efforts, building relationships with members, media representatives, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in marketing, brand development, communications, public relations, or creative content development.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and persuasive messages for a variety of audiences.
- Strong storytelling instincts with the ability to translate complex information and concepts into accessible content.
- Advanced proficiency in graphic design and content creation using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience developing and executing marketing campaigns across multiple platforms, from initial concept and creative development through implementation and performance evaluation.
- Strong understanding of social media strategy, content planning, digital marketing, and audience engagement.
- Experience with website content management systems, particularly WordPress.
- Familiarity with mass-email marketing platforms.
- Ability to develop and manage content calendars, coordinate multiple campaigns, and maintain consistent brand messaging across communication channels.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance creative projects, ongoing communications, and time-sensitive priorities.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, members, and community partners.
- Photography, videography, and video editing skills are a plus, but not required.
- A genuine interest in community engagement, economic development, and the mission of the Chamber of Commerce.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who sees stories everywhere; someone who can walk into a local business, strike up a conversation with its owner, and immediately start thinking about how to share that story with the community; someone who has both the creative vision to see the opportunity and the initiative and follow-through to bring it to life.
This person should be an exceptional writer, a talented visual communicator, and a strategic thinker who understands how to turn creative ideas into effective marketing campaigns. They should be just as comfortable designing a compelling graphic as they are writing a feature story, developing a membership campaign, or explaining a legislative issue in a way that makes sense to the average business owner.
We're looking for someone who brings fresh ideas to the table, takes ownership of projects, and knows how to balance big-picture thinking with the hands-on work required to bring those ideas to life.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who believes in the power of community and can help us show, not just tell, the difference the Chamber makes.
