Driver Apprentice - City

Position Overview

Become proficient in operating tractor-trailer combinations through education and skills development. Responsibilities include non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work.

Essential Functions

Operate various trucks, perform safety inspections, hook/unhook trailers, handle freight using motorized and manual equipment, secure freight, repair damaged goods, complete documentation, and ensure compliance with hazardous material regulations. Communicate with dispatch and customers, provide customer service, and support additional duties like tire chaining and performing roles of road driver or freight handler when needed.

Qualifications

Must have a Class A CDL or CLP, acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, meet DOT requirements, and possess basic math, communication, and physical strength skills. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, sit for extended periods, and follow instructions is required.

Working Conditions

Drive in all weather conditions, exposed to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials. Hours may vary based on operational needs.
