About BRANWYN

BRANWYN | Performance Innerwear, based in Bend, Oregon, produces ethically sourced, naturally sustainable performance underwear designed for active individuals. By combining ZQ Merino wool with seamless knitting technology, BRANWYN is redefining next-to-skin apparel that is comfortable, temperature regulating, anti-microbial, breathable, and supportive. The brand is driven by an ethos of “Find A Way,” focused on breaking limiting beliefs and creating products that meet real, everyday needs. BRANWYN partners with organizations that promote joy, self-expression, and movement in the outdoors, while maintaining a strong commitment to personal and global health through natural, non-toxic fibers and sustainable, ethical practices. The company donates over 1% of revenue to mission-aligned organizations and collaborates with local and national groups that share its values.

We sell direct to consumers through Shopify, fulfill through a 3rd party 3PL, and work as a small, fully remote team where everyone owns a meaningful piece of the business.

The role

We're hiring a Finance & Operations Assistant Manager to own the details that keep BRANWYN’s money, orders and inventory moving and keep BRANWYN’s back-office running. You'll own bookkeeping inputs, payables, tax and payroll administration, and daily order and reporting tasks. Our outside bookkeeping firm handles the monthly books from what you prepare.

  • Reports to: Chief Financial & Operations Officer
  • Type: Full-time, remote (US), PT or MT time zone
  • Hours: West Coast US business hours, with enough overlap to handle same-day order holds and customer calls

You'll work closely with our bookkeeping firm, our rewash partner and our international customer experience team.

What you'll own
  • Accounting and close: keep documents organized, subledgers accurate, and deliver a clean monthly close package to our bookkeeping firm, including inventory in transit, work in progress, and freight/duty/tariff values.
  • Payables and cash: run payables in Bill.com end to end, from vendor onboarding and W-9s to payments and wires under approval controls, and monitor bank balances and credit card payments to keep cash within set thresholds.
  • Tax and compliance: own sales tax in Numeral and keep BRANWYN current on state registrations, permit renewals, annual reports and tax obligations in every state where we operate, including home rule cities and monitoring Shopify's tax engine.
  • Payroll and benefits: run semi-monthly, multi-state payroll, own our HR software, onboard and offboard employees, and administer benefits.
  • Order risk and customer escalations: own held-order decisions, chargebacks and US phone escalations, working with our international CX team.
  • Inbound production shipments: be the go-to person for when product is arriving. Create advance shipping notices in our ERP, then track and monitor every production shipment from overseas through delivery to ShipBob, flag delays early and drive them to resolution, and report on arrival status to the team.
  • Operations coordination: be the point person for PR and marketing orders and for our rewash partner.
  • Reporting: maintain the daily and weekly revenue, ad spend and inventory reports in Google Sheets.
  • Office administration: route daily Zoom voicemails, sort and take action on mail from our PO Box, and keep track of shared equipment and physical items, including the printer, merchandise samples and keys.

Requirements

3+ years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping and business operations

  • Experience coding transactions, including an understanding of the difference between balance sheet and P&L items
  • Experience running payables in Bill.com or a similar system
  • Experience running payroll, ideally in more than one state
  • Strong Google Sheets skills: lookups, pivot tables and maintaining recurring reports
  • Quick to pick up new technology and comfortable learning new systems on your own
  • Highly organized with files: you follow naming conventions and folder structures in Google Drive
  • Comfortable calling customers and handling sensitive order issues with care
  • Discreet with payroll, banking and personal data
  • Self-directed in a remote team, managing daily, weekly and monthly deadlines and flagging issues early
  • Based in the Pacific or Mountain time zone and able to work West Coast business hours
  • Able to run regular errands, including dropping off packages at FedEx or similar shipping locations, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Space at home to store work equipment, such as a printer and product samples

Helpful, But Not Required (If you meet most, but not all, of the requirements above and below, we still encourage you to apply. We’re looking for someone with strong fundamentals, good judgment, and the ability to learn quickly.)

  • Experience in e-commerce, apparel or another inventory-based business, including landed costs and inventory in transit
  • Familiarity with sales tax automation tools such as Numeral or Avalara
  • Experience with Shopify admin, order risk tools and chargeback disputes
  • Benefits administration experience
  • Experience using AI tools in a finance or operations role, for example to reconcile transactions, draft reports or automate recurring work

What we offer
  • Direct visibility and meaningful impact on a small team
  • A collaborative, communicative remote work environment
  • Competitive pay, benefits and a product allowance
  • Remote work situation
 Details
  • Location: Remote, Pacific or Mountain time zone
  • Compensation: $80k, depending on how much of the role you can run independently within your first 30 days
  • Benefits: Health & dental, 401k match, product allowance
  • To apply: Please send your cover letter and resume as one PDF with the subject line Finance & Ops AM_(your name) to [email protected].
  • Please note that we will only review applications that follow these instructions. Due to the number of applications we receive, we may not be able to respond to every applicant individually, but we sincerely appreciate the time and thought that goes into each application.
  • Application timeline: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early.

BRANWYN is an equal opportunity employer. We’re committed to building a welcoming, inclusive team that reflects a diversity of backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and lived experiences. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every qualification listed, we still encourage you to apply.

Experience comes in many forms, and we’d love to hear what you could bring to BRANWYN.
