Job Description

About the Company

A promising startup in the brain-computer interface (BCI) field that builds novel medical devices by pairing sophisticated hardware engineering with artificial intelligence. Its purpose is to give people with disabilities back their independence and improve their overall wellbeing.

Become part of a compact, committed group of skilled and driven people. At this early stage, you'll have the chance to own wide-ranging decisions with substantial, lasting effects. The team places high value on ongoing learning, career development, and collaboration across disciplines, and each person's work is essential to the company's progress.

About the Role

We're looking for a seasoned Full Stack Software Engineer to create the core applications that drive a brain-computer interface (BCI) product ecosystem. You'll build fast, responsive user interfaces and backend services that connect device telemetry, live neural data, and cloud infrastructure. Working hand in hand with teams across the company, you'll turn intricate clinical needs into secure, highly dependable software features.

Responsibilities

  • Full Stack Development

Architect, build, and support well-crafted software, mainly in Rust for a desktop setting, with periodic contributions to server-side and web interfaces.

  • System Architecture & APIs

Create and deliver dependable APIs, protected data pipelines, and scalable approaches for handling time-series data both in real time and in batches.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work alongside firmware, machine learning, clinical, and product engineering teams to connect client-side and server-side software throughout the wider device ecosystem.

  • Engineering Excellence & Process

Advocate for strong standards in code quality, modular design, thorough documentation, and automated testing.

  • Quality & Regulatory Compliance

Write and keep up to date the design documents, specifications, and verification protocols that meet design control requirements for medical software.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable hands-on experience.

Required Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience building production software across the full application stack.
  • Advanced skill in Rust or a comparable programming language, plus a solid command of Python.
  • A proven track record in systems design, data flow architecture, performance-sensitive code, and API design.
  • A firm grasp of software quality practices, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines in live production settings.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to lead technical solutions on your own within an early-stage hardware/software company.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience building medical device software under design controls and quality standards such as IEC 62304.
  • Practical experience creating HIPAA-compliant platforms that manage sensitive information (PHI/PII).
  • Knowledge of biological sensor data, time-series data, or neurophysiological signal processing workflows.
  • A background in applying cybersecurity best practices to connected device ecosystems.
