About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Full Stack Python Developer to join our dynamic team on a long-term contract basis with the potential for permanent employment. This role is based remotely in Chicago, IL, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work with a prominent insurance firm that values innovation and technical excellence. As a Lead Full Stack Developer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications and web service integrations across interconnected companywide systems. Your expertise will help deliver scalable frontend, backend, and cloud solutions, ensuring data quality and system integrity. This position offers a unique chance to lead technical initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and implement best practices in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with a focus on Python, React JS or Angular, and cloud technologies.
• Strong proficiency in AWS cloud services, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of SQL/PostgreSQL databases, data modeling, and database management.
• Experience with .NET framework and AI integration, specifically with tools like Claude.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical projects effectively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test complex applications, web services, and integrations across enterprise systems, ensuring scalability and robustness.
• Build and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs primarily in Python, contributing to front-end development as needed to deliver comprehensive full-stack solutions.
• Establish and manage CI/CD pipelines, utilizing tools like Terraform, to streamline deployment processes and enhance system reliability.
• Collaborate with database administrators to design SQL Server tables, maintain data integrity, and develop stored procedures, SSRS, and SSIS packages.
• Partner with product managers, QA teams, and fellow engineers to plan features, review code, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Lead the development and support of the LifePRO application, including evaluation, testing, and deployment of system updates and new features.
• Implement AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to accelerate software delivery and improve code quality.
• Monitor system performance, optimize resource utilization, and troubleshoot issues proactively to minimize downtime and ensure operational excellence.
• Document technical specifications, system architecture, disaster recovery procedures, and best practices to maintain comprehensive project records.
• Lead initiatives for system enhancements, performance improvements, and architecture planning to align with organizational goals and industry standards.
