Job Description

EE Hardware Validation Engineer | Wearable Technology

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite)

Employment Type: 12-Month Contract

Start Date: ASAP

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering (EE) Hardware Validation Engineer to support the development and validation of next-generation smart glasses and wearable technology.

In this role, you will work closely with hardware validation and engineering teams to ensure the performance, reliability, and quality of advanced electronic systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Power Integrity (PI), Signal Integrity (SI), hardware testing, and failure analysis, along with the ability to interpret complex validation data, troubleshoot hardware issues, and collaborate across engineering teams.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative consumer hardware while supporting critical engineering validation activities from prototype development through production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Validation & Issue Resolution

  • Review and analyze hardware validation reports, test results, and measurement data.
  • Investigate validation failures and identify potential root causes related to design, assembly, or measurement.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering, PCB layout, firmware, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Track validation progress, document findings, and drive engineering issues through resolution.
  • Identify technical risks and recommend corrective actions.

Power Integrity & Signal Integrity

  • Perform PI/SI testing and troubleshooting on complex electronic assemblies.
  • Characterize DC-DC converters, including efficiency, transient response, voltage regulation, and ripple.
  • Validate power sequencing, battery charging circuits, and power distribution networks.
  • Evaluate high-speed interfaces, including MIPI CSI, USB, SPI, I2C, I2S/PDM, and UART.
  • Analyze signal quality, impedance, crosstalk, reflections, and timing issues.

Testing & Manufacturing Support

  • Develop detailed test procedures, measurement instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide technical guidance to contract manufacturing (CM) engineers and technicians.
  • Review schematics and PCB layouts to identify test points and potential design concerns.
  • Perform advanced laboratory measurements and troubleshoot escalated hardware issues.
  • Support prototype bring-up, engineering validation, and hardware characterization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of hands-on electrical engineering hardware validation experience, with significant emphasis on Power Integrity and Signal Integrity.
  • Strong experience with DC-DC converter characterization, power regulation circuits, and high-speed digital signal measurements.
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment, including high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, active/differential probes, current probes, power rail probes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Experience evaluating PCB designs for signal integrity, power distribution, probe access, and debugging.
  • Solid understanding of transmission line theory, impedance matching, and flex PCB signal integrity.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing test data, investigating hardware failures, and resolving complex engineering issues.
  • Ability to develop clear technical documentation, test procedures, and SOPs.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with wearable devices, smart glasses, mobile electronics, or IoT hardware.
  • Familiarity with prototype development and EVT/DVT/PVT validation cycles.
  • Experience supporting contract manufacturers (CMs) or original design manufacturers (ODMs).
  • Knowledge of RF measurements, including Bluetooth/Wi-Fi performance and antenna characteristics.
  • Familiarity with Keysight or Tektronix oscilloscopes and PCB design tools such as Allegro or Altium.
  • Experience with JIRA or similar engineering issue-tracking platforms.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

Join an engineering team developing advanced wearable technology and help bring next-generation smart glasses from prototype to production.

This role provides exposure to sophisticated electronic systems, challenging hardware validation problems, and collaboration with experienced engineers working on innovative consumer products.
