Head of Technology - Fresh Division

Buyer’s Edge Platform is seeking a Head of Technology to lead every technology function supporting our Fresh Alliance division. Fresh Alliance leads fresh supply chain management and optimization through leading technology, data analytics, and procurement expertise for the foodservice industry. Our systems handle complex, high-volume transactions connecting customers, distributors, suppliers, and internal operations, and they are central to the business as it grows and expands internationally. This is not a role that focuses on one discipline. You will lead a complex team of 25+ individuals across six functions, and growing:

• Software Engineering: A large team comprised of both onshore and offshore resources
• Systems Architecture: Systems architect management guiding application, database, and cloud platforms
• EDI and Integration: A dedicated team of EDI experts managing integrations across the fresh supply chain
• Product Management and Design: Product managers and UX design support shaping internal and customer-facing applications
• Application Support: Support workflow reliability and issue resolution, shared across these teams
• Technology Leadership: Strategy, budget, vendors, and staffing for the whole organization

Fresh Alliance is an integral part of the Fresh Division as it directly works with both Fresh Concepts and Produce Alliance providing a direct sourcing and contracting resources to their end user customers.

Your impact:

• Set technology strategy for Fresh Alliance in partnership with the corporate CTO and division leadership, and translate it into clear priorities.
• Lead modernization of core platforms and applications while protecting the reliability of daily operations.
• Keep EDI and partner integrations dependable while expanding automation and API-based connectivity, including proactive client engagement to optimize where possible.
• Drive AI adoption across the organization, from AI-assisted development practices to AI initiatives that improve operations and customer experience.
• Own product priorities across competing internal and customer needs, and ensure solutions improve real workflows.
• Maintain and grow a distributed onshore and offshore team into one high-performing organization.
• Manage budget, vendor relationships, and staffing, and develop the next generation of technology leaders.

About you:

• Required:
• 12+ years of progressive technology experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Strong foundation in software engineering, systems architecture, and enterprise application development.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams that include offshore or distributed resources.
• Hands-on leadership of EDI, enterprise integrations, or complex B2B transaction processing.
• A track record of modernizing business-critical systems while keeping them running.
• Experience leading AI-driven development and AI initiatives, such as expanding AI-assisted engineering practices or applying AI to automate business workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred:
• Experience in foodservice, supply chain, distribution, or procurement.
• Knowledge of ANSI X12 EDI standards and API-based integrations.
• Experience with AWS, relational databases, and legacy platform consolidation.
• Understanding of food traceability or FSMA 204 requirements.
• Experience supporting international operations.
