Infra Tech Lead
Location: New York City, New York, USA
Working model: Fully in-office, five days a week
Salary: $200,000–$275,000 base + equity
Experience: 6+ years (typically 6–8 years)
Open positions: 2 — one infrastructure-leaning lead and one product-leaning lead
About the company
Join a Series B AI company transforming sales and revenue intelligence for enterprise businesses. The company builds AI-powered solutions that help sales teams work more effectively, automate workflows and gain deeper insights from customer interactions. Its platform supports more than 100 enterprise sales teams, with AI agents at the centre of its product offering.
As the company continues to scale, it is building a team of senior product engineers in New York to take ownership of its core architecture, accelerate product development and deliver its next generation of AI-powered capabilities. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, fast-moving team with direct access to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and meaningful influence over technical strategy.
The role
As an Infra Tech Lead, you'll serve as a technical anchor for the engineering organisation, combining hands-on engineering with architectural ownership, technical leadership and mentoring.
You'll help shape the AI agent platform that powers the company's enterprise products while taking ownership of a flagship feature from concept through delivery. Over your first six months, you'll be expected to make a tangible impact on the architecture and product. You'll mentor a team of approximately seven to eight junior engineers, helping them develop their technical skills and grow into stronger contributors, while remaining actively involved in system design, implementation and complex engineering decisions.
Two profiles are being considered: an infrastructure-leaning lead focused on distributed systems and platform architecture, and a product-leaning lead who combines strong technical foundations with end-to-end product ownership.
What you'll do
- Own and evolve the architecture of the AI agent platform supporting more than 100 enterprise sales teams.
- Lead the design and implementation of distributed systems and production services using Go.
- Take technical ownership of a flagship product feature, delivering meaningful progress within your first six months.
- Make architectural decisions that improve reliability, scalability, maintainability and performance.
- Work closely with product leadership to translate business priorities into technical solutions.
- Mentor seven to eight junior engineers, helping them grow into increasingly independent and senior contributors.
- Balance hands-on coding with technical direction, code reviews and system design.
- Drive infrastructure and product initiatives from initial architecture through production deployment and continued improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify bottlenecks, improve developer workflows and raise engineering standards.
- Help scale the platform and engineering practices as the business grows.
What we're looking for
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience, ideally within a B2B SaaS or enterprise product environment.
- A proven track record as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer or Staff-level engineer with significant technical ownership.
- Strong production experience with Go (Golang).
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems and the ability to design, build and operate systems at scale.
- Experience taking infrastructure or a technical platform from initial design through production adoption and continued scaling.
- Evidence of making important architectural trade-offs and explaining their impact.
- Experience mentoring engineers and helping them develop into more senior contributors.
- A strong understanding of how technical architecture supports real customer and business requirements.
- A track record of sustained ownership and progression within an organisation.
- Willingness to work in the New York office five days a week.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a pure individual-contributor or engineering-management position. You'll be expected to remain close to the code while setting technical direction and helping other engineers succeed.
What will make you stand out?
- Platform ownership: You've taken a production infrastructure platform from zero to one and scaled it to support increasing customer and business demands.
- Strong Go expertise: You've designed, built and operated Go services in a production environment at meaningful scale.
- Architectural judgement: You can describe a significant technical decision you personally made, the alternatives you considered and the outcome.
- Technical mentorship: You've helped engineers grow into senior contributors through coaching, code reviews and technical guidance.
- B2B product experience: You've built technology that directly supports enterprise customers and complex business workflows.
- AI and sales technology: Experience with conversational AI, CRM integrations, call analytics or AI agent platforms is a plus.
- Workflow orchestration: Familiarity with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration technologies is beneficial.
- Sustained technical ownership: You've demonstrated progression and meaningful responsibility over several years, rather than moving frequently between short-term roles.
Why join?
- High-impact technical ownership: Shape the architecture behind an AI platform used by more than 100 enterprise sales teams.
- Senior engineering influence: Set technical direction while remaining hands-on with important engineering challenges.
- Build for scale: Solve distributed-systems and infrastructure challenges in a growing Series B AI business.
- Mentorship opportunities: Help develop the next generation of engineers and raise the team's technical standards.
- Direct access to leadership: Collaborate closely with the CPO and influence product and technical strategy.
- Competitive compensation: Earn $200,000–$275,000 in base salary, plus equity.
- Collaborative environment: Join a flat, product-focused engineering team with substantial responsibility and room to make an impact.
Interview process
- Engineering leadership screening: Discuss your experience, technical ownership and leadership approach.
- Technical assessment: Demonstrate your system-design skills, hands-on coding ability and familiarity with AI development tools.
- VP of Engineering interview: Explore architecture, technical strategy and leadership experience.
- On-site interviews with engineering and product: Meet the team and discuss technical and product challenges.
- Final conversation with the CEO: Align on expectations, motivation and the opportunity ahead.
- Offer: Successful candidates receive an offer to join the team.
