Job Description

Child Welfare MSW /BSW Placement Requirements

Fall/ Spring placement 15-20 hours a week.
Must be able to start in the summer for training. One day in June, July, and August.
Must be available for group supervision, bi-weekly team meetings, and agency trainings.
Must be able to work one evening per week.
Agency cars are available, but use of personal car may be necessary.
Must provide proof of current car insurance.
Must feel comfortable, after a training period, to supervise parent/child visits and intervene in the visit when necessary.
Must feel comfortable with in home family visits.
Pass criminal and CANTS (DCFS) background check.

What You Will Learn

DCFS policy and procedure.
Trauma and loss work with children.
Juvenile court, DCFS ACR and legal screening process, Facilitating a Child and Family Team Meeting.
How to document contact.
Developing a service plan and visitation plan.
Interview skills.
Mandated reporter training.
Trauma / loss training.
Foster parent recruitment.
Return home, adoption or guardianship process.
