Position Summary

We are seeking a Level 2 Network Engineer & Database Oversight Specialist to oversee network and database operations across HIPAA-regulated commercial and federal environments.

This role will serve as the internal technical authority responsible for managing third-party IT service providers, ensuring system uptime and performance, validating technical changes, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA, CMMC Level 2, and CMS MAC ARS requirements.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on network and database experience, along with the ability to audit vendor performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure compliance across multi-tenant environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for the Managed Service Provider (MSP), overseeing service delivery, SLA performance, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis.
• Review and validate network changes, including firewall configurations, routing updates, and security controls.
• Oversee Aruba wireless infrastructure and ClearPass authentication deployments.
• Monitor and validate database administration activities across DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL environments.
• Audit database patching, maintenance, performance, and security activities performed by third-party providers.
• Support HIPAA, CMMC Level 2, and CMS MAC ARS compliance audits by gathering technical documentation, logs, network diagrams, access reviews, and vulnerability remediation evidence.
• Troubleshoot and escalate complex network and database issues to ensure system availability and data integrity.
• Verify compliance standards are consistently maintained across commercial and federal environments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure and database environments.
• Knowledge of network security, firewalls, routing, and wireless networking.
• Experience with Aruba wireless networking and ClearPass authentication.
• Familiarity with DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with managed service providers or outsourced IT teams.
• Understanding of HIPAA, CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171, or CMS MAC ARS compliance requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical auditing, and vendor management skills.
• Ability to evaluate technical work, identify risks, and ensure service delivery meets organizational standards.

A technically strong infrastructure professional who can hold an outsourced IT provider accountable while independently evaluating network performance, database operations, security, and compliance. This is an oversight-focused role requiring enough hands-on technical knowledge to challenge vendor recommendations and validate completed work.
