Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary:

The facility seeks qualified Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs)/Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide nursing care at the San Angelo State Supported Living Center. Candidates must hold a valid nursing license in Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer medications and treatments orally, rectally, internally, or by injection.
• Perform technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations after competency demonstration.
• Document and report pertinent observations and maintain records according to facility policy.
• Communicate pertinent information orally and in writing to other team members.
• Respond to emergency situations to ensure the safety of individuals.
• Follow facility safety and infection control procedures.
• Monitor individuals receiving treatments and undergoing procedures.
• Collect specimens for laboratory examination and conduct appropriate screening tests when competency is documented and requested by laboratory personnel.
• Provide education to individuals with specific health goals.
• Assist other staff with turning and repositioning individuals to administer treatments.
• Ensure supplies are available.
• Manage individual medical records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) or paper chart.
• Attend work regularly, follow assigned or rotating schedules, and work extended shifts or overtime when required in accordance with agency leave policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Valid license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated computer and Electronic Health Record (EHR) skills preferred.
• Experience with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and psychiatric care preferred.
• Valid photo ID.
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification.
• Negative PPD results within the last 12 months.
• Must successfully pass a urine drug screen and background check.
• Must successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check.
• Negative COVID-19 test result required; testing will be provided by the facility.

Additional Information:

• No additional time off will be available during the holiday season, including Christmas and New Year's.
