Job Description

Litigation Associate, Bodily Injury Defense | Jacksonville, FL | $125,000 to $200,000 | Bodily Injury / Personal Injury Defense

Northeast Florida juries are practical people. They want to know what happened, who was hurt, how badly, and whether the numbers in front of them make sense. A defense lawyer who can answer those questions plainly does well here. One who hides behind jargon usually doesn't.

I'm hiring for a Jacksonville insurance defense firm that wants a bodily injury defense lawyer who speaks plainly and enjoys courtroom work. I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, recruiting on the firm's behalf.

Inside the job

• Bodily injury defense across auto, premises and general negligence claims

• Running your own files, with clear accountability and real authority on strategy

• Depositions of plaintiffs, treaters, life care planners and economic experts

• Motion hearings, mediations and jury trials, with first chair work for attorneys ready to lead

• Building relationships with adjusters who rely on your evaluations

On paper

• Florida Bar membership

• 2+ years of litigation experience, ideally bodily injury or insurance defense

• Attorneys with seven, ten or fifteen years of practice are just as welcome as mid level associates. Those with deeper experience will take on higher value cases, trial leadership and mentoring

Hours, place and pay

• Hybrid, based in Jacksonville

• 1,950 billable hours a year

• $125,000 to $200,000, a broad range set so pay can track your experience instead of a lockstep chart

Where this can lead

Jacksonville is a big legal market spread across a lot of counties, and lawyers who try cases here build reputations quickly. Clients notice the attorney who was in front of the jury. Partners notice too. That's the most reliable path toward a larger practice and a partnership conversation, and it starts with getting the work in the first place.

Why talk to me

I'll tell you what I know about the role, what I don't, and whether I think it fits what you want. If it doesn't, I'll say so.
