Overview

The Principal Java DevOps Engineer at Rackspace Technology will play a pivotal role in driving the development and operational processes across our technology stack. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a robust infrastructure that supports continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD). Job Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, automated deployment pipelines for Java applications.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps best practices into software development.
• Monitor and manage system performance, reliability, and scalability in production environments.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) scripts to streamline setup and configuration.
• Lead incident management and resolution efforts to prevent downtime.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of software releases to ensure quality assurance.
• Mentor junior engineers in programming methodologies, DevOps concepts, and best practices.
• Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate relevant technologies into workflow processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development, with a focus on Java technologies.
• Extensive experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
• In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, or Groovy.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively.

Technologies & Tools

The Principal Java DevOps Engineer will work with a range of modern technologies and tools, including but not limited to, Java, Spring Framework, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, Terraform, and various cloud services like Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack will also be advantageous.
