NGS R&D Engineer

About the role

We are hiring an NGS R&D Engineer to lead assay development, workflow optimization and method validation for our sequencing panel portfolio. This role focuses on resolving technical bottlenecks in library prep, capture, and nucleic acid workflows, translating new methods into production-ready SOPs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead NGS library development, condition optimization and full method validation covering nucleic acid extraction, target capture, PCR and library QC; improve workflow stability, sensitivity and cost performance
• Design validation study plans, run side-by-side method comparison and performance characterization, compile data, write validation reports and drive SOP transfer to production lab
• Track advances in sequencing reagents, enzymes and protocols; conduct feasibility screening and proof-of-concept testing; diagnose complex assay failure modes and implement sustainable fixes
• Partner with commercial, customer success and production teams to support new project kickoff, technical consultation and custom sample solution design; generate technical documentation and invention disclosures for IP

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biotechnology or related discipline
• Solid molecular biology foundation; hands-on experience with nucleic acid extraction, PCR, NGS library prep, Fragment Analyzer, qPCR; capable of independent experimental design and statistical data analysis
• Strong mindset for assay development & validation: skilled at variable testing, control design, root-cause investigation and iterative workflow improvement
• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills; able to author validation protocols, technical reports and SOPs; committed to quality and biosafety standards

Preferred

• Prior experience with hybrid capture panel development
• Experience working in CLIA, CAP or ISO-regulated genomics / IVD environment
