Job Description
Engineering Project Scheduler & Data Analyst
Jacksonville, FL
1-year contract (W2, Weekly Pay, Benefits - medical, dental, vision, ~60-day waiting period)
Potential to Hire FT
$45-50/hr. (40 hours/week)
Work setup
- On-site at the Normandy facility in Jacksonville, about five days a week for the first couple of months while you gather input and build the template
- Later, about two to three days on-site, with the rest remote, with manager approval
- Monday–Friday, 8–5; up to 10% local travel, including trips to the fabrication shop
- Reports directly to the engineering leader; no direct reports at first, with possible growth over time
About the role
Our client builds modular fabrication projects, and their engineering work has outgrown how they schedule it. Scheduling is split across several people and about eight project schedules. They need one person to own it.
You’ll build a resource-loaded engineering schedule that shows who is doing what, and when. That gives leadership a clear view of capacity and the impact of new work.
What you’ll do
- Build a reusable, resource-loaded schedule template from scratch (tasks, predecessors, successors, durations, dependencies)
- Adapt the template into schedules for active projects
- Maintain a master engineering schedule across all projects
- Check in with design project managers and engineering leads on progress, percent complete, and deadline risks
- Track milestones such as 30/60/90% design reviews and IFC releases
- Forecast engineering resource needs by project, discipline, and week, and compare them to available capacity
- Build dashboards and reports that executives can read quickly
- Flag critical-path issues, late deliverables, and schedule risks early
- Work with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Operations to understand the impact of delays or changes
- You won’t be assigning engineers to projects or scheduling the manufacturing floor.
What you bring
- Experience building and managing resource-loaded schedules. You’ve tracked the people doing the work, not just start and finish dates.
- Strong grasp of scheduling logic: dependencies, critical path, durations, variance analysis
- 3–5 years in project controls, scheduling, project management, resource planning, or data analytics
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, large datasets)
- Experience with dashboards and management-level reporting
- Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. MS Project is preferred, but solid experience in another tool is fine.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, data analytics, business, or a related field
Nice to have
- Resource forecasting and capacity modeling
- Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or Python
- Modular construction, EPC, industrial manufacturing, data center, or other engineer-to-order experience
- ERP, PLM, or document-control system experience
- PMP, PMI-SP, AACE, or similar certification
- Manufacturing experience isn’t required. A background in project administration can be a great fit.
