Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Python Developer to join an enterprise product engineering team. The role will focus on building and modernizing backend applications, APIs, data-processing services, and automation capabilities using Python.

The developer will work within an Agile engineering squad and use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and modernization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python-based applications and backend services.
• Build REST APIs, microservices, integration components, and data-processing workflows.
• Write clean, modular, maintainable code with automated unit and integration tests.
• Work with relational databases, including data modeling and SQL development.
• Integrate services with enterprise applications, APIs, messaging platforms, and data sources.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
• Participate in technical design, code reviews, sprint planning, and backlog refinement.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams.
• Follow secure coding, source control, CI/CD, and release-management practices.
• Contribute to application modernization and technical-debt reduction.

AI-Assisted Development

• Use approved AI coding assistants as part of day-to-day engineering.
• Apply AI assistance for code generation, refactoring, debugging, unit testing, documentation, and code understanding.
• Review and validate AI-generated code before incorporating it into the application.
• Use AI tools to accelerate analysis and modernization of existing applications.
• Follow organizational security, privacy, and data-handling requirements when using AI tools.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on Python development experience.
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar frameworks.
• REST APIs and microservices architecture.
• SQL and relational databases.
• Unit testing using pytest or equivalent frameworks.
• Git-based source control.
• CI/CD and automated deployment practices.
• Docker and containerized application development.
• Experience debugging and supporting enterprise applications.

Preferred Skills

• AWS, Azure, or another major cloud platform
• Kafka or other event/messaging technologies
• Kubernetes
• NoSQL databases
• Data processing using Pandas or similar Python libraries
• GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools
• Experience with large-scale enterprise applications
• Experience modernizing legacy applications or decomposing monolithic applications into services.
