Job Description
Job Title: Python Engineer - Technical Architect / Lead
Location: Atlanta, GA - Hybrid (3 Days per Week Onsite)
Employment Type: Full-Time (FTE)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Python Technical Architect / Lead to define the architecture
and technical direction. In this role, you will own end-to-end solution design for domain-aligned
services supporting customer onboarding, KYC, money movement, and IRA accounts. You will
lead a team of engineers, act as the primary technical point of contact, and ensure that solutions
are secure, scalable, compliant, and built to high engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own the end-to-end architecture for serverless, event-driven systems on
AWS, aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Apply Domain-Driven Design to establish service boundaries, and guide the use of
design patterns such as Saga, CQRS, outbox, circuit breaker, and idempotent
processing.
Design RESTful and event-driven APIs using API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS, and Step
Functions, including API standards and versioning.
Architect resilient vendor integrations and data models across PostgreSQL and
DynamoDB, with pipelines feeding Snowflake.
Address non-functional requirements including scalability, performance, availability,
observability, and cost optimization.
Embed security and compliance across the platform, including IAM, KMS, SSO/OAuth2
(Okta), PII protection, and audit logging.
Produce architecture artifacts such as solution designs, Architecture Decision Records
(ADRs), and technical roadmaps.
Lead and mentor the engineering team, define engineering standards (TDD, code
reviews, IaC, CI/CD), and contribute hands-on to critical components.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, leading architecture
discussions and translating business requirements into technical solutions with clear
trade-offs.
Partner with product and delivery teams on estimation, planning, and risk mitigation, and
support pre-sales activities as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
Extensive experience in Python back-end development, with deep expertise in Django
or FastAPI.
Proven experience architecting and delivering production systems on AWS serverless
services: Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, and DynamoDB.
Strong command of Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architecture, microservices,
and distributed system design patterns.
Expertise in PostgreSQL and data modelling, with SQLAlchemy or the Django ORM, and
solid understanding of NoSQL design for DynamoDB.
Experience designing secure integrations using REST, OAuth2, and Okta, with emphasis
on reliability, retries, and idempotency.
Strong grounding in test-driven development and testing strategy using pytest, moto,
and LocalStack.
In-depth knowledge of AWS security (IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager) and secure handling
of PII.
Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and mentoring developers.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of
working directly with clients.
Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or
GitHub Copilot.
Good to have
Experience in fintech, banking, wealth management, or other regulated industries.
Infrastructure-as-code expertise with AWS CDK or Terraform, and experience designing
CI/CD pipelines.
Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and working with Snowflake.
Experience with observability tooling.
