About Accenture Federal Services

Accenture Federal Services is a technology company within Accenture that works with the U.S. federal government to support missions across defense, national security, public safety, civilian services, and military health. The company focuses on using technology and innovation to help federal agencies operate more effectively and deliver value to the American public.

About the Role

Accenture Federal Services is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions for software applications. The role focuses on moving manual testing efforts toward scalable automated test suites integrated into the software deployment pipeline.

You will work closely with developers, product managers, and QA team members to validate application functionality, performance, and security, identify defects early, and support reliable software releases. The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to client locations in the DMV area.

Key Responsibilities

● Design and develop maintainable automated test scripts for web applications and backend APIs.

● Build and scale automation frameworks using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, and other testing technologies.

● Analyze requirements and user stories to create structured end-to-end test plans.

● Execute regression, functional, and smoke tests before major production releases.

● Identify, document, and track software defects, including reproduction steps and severity, using issue-tracking systems.

● Investigate test failures and determine whether they result from application defects or unstable test scripts.

● Integrate automated testing into deployment pipelines to improve test coverage and efficiency.

● Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

● Apply testing practices that help identify behavioral regressions, UI issues, and potential security vulnerabilities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

● At least 4 years of QA experience.

● Experience with test automation.

● Programming experience in one or more languages, including Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or SQL.

● Experience testing backend systems, frontend applications, and APIs.

● Strong understanding of software verification principles, the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and test case optimization.

● Experience using automated testing tools and frameworks to validate application quality.

Technical Skills

● Programming: Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar languages, with the ability to use AI-assisted development tools.

● Automation Tools: Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Cucumber.

● Testing Frameworks: pytest, Jest, JUnit, TestNG, or similar frameworks.

● API Testing: Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or Bruno.

● Database Testing: Ability to write basic to intermediate SQL queries to verify data persistence and consistency.

● Version Control: Strong command-line Git skills and familiarity with branching workflows.

● CI/CD: Experience integrating automated tests into pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

● Containerization: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

● Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

● Performance Testing: Experience with tools such as k6, JMeter, or Gatling.

● Security Testing: Experience testing application security.

Preferred Qualifications

● A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify edge cases and potential vulnerabilities.

● Attention to detail when identifying behavioral regressions and user interface issues.

Security Clearance

● An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

● Ability to obtain a polygraph is also required.

Location and Work Arrangement

● Primarily remote.

● Occasional travel to client locations in the DMV area may be required.
