Position Overview
This role runs the capacity planning function in Revenue Operations to assist the sales teams for GPU inventory, data center space, and power, owns the backstop program that unlocks new capacity, and operates the business management office cadence that keeps demand, supply, and commitments reconciled.
The role is the single point of integration across five forecasts: Sales, Sales Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Customer Success. No other role sees the full picture, which is what makes the integrated view possible.
Capacity is the binding constraint on growth. Deals are sized and quoted against inventory and sites that may not yet be secured, lead times that move, and power that has to be contracted before it can be sold. This role exists to make that constraint visible early, plan against it deliberately, and run the programs that relieve it.
This is a foundational business management office role in Revenue Operations. It reports to the Head of Revenue Operations and partners closely with Sales, Sales Engineering, Alliances, Finance, Customer Success, Operations, and the data center and infrastructure teams. It is a senior individual contributor role: the work is owned end to end, with influence rather than direct authority across the functions it touches.
Key Responsibilities
Integrated Forecast and S&OP
Own the integrated capacity forecast: the single reconciled view assembled from five independent inputs, each owned by a different function.
- Sales forecast (Sales). Pipeline, committed bookings, and expected close timing translated into capacity demand by product, quantity, and date
- Technical forecast (Sales Engineering). System configurations, power draw, network and infrastructure requirements behind what Sales is quoting
- Data center forecast (Operations). Site availability, rack and space capacity, energization timelines, and deployment throughput
- Finance forecast (Finance). Capital allocation required to meet the plan, timing of capital deployment, and funding constraints
- Customer forecast (Customer Success). Where existing customers are placed, upcoming renewals, expirations, expansions, and capacity that will free up or need to be held
Responsibilities against those inputs:
- Establish the cadence, templates, data definitions, and submission deadlines that make each function's forecast comparable and combinable
- Reconcile the five views into one integrated plan, and resolve the conflicts between them rather than passing them upward unresolved
- Identify where the forecasts disagree and quantify the consequence: Sales expects delivery in a quarter Operations cannot energize, or Finance has not allocated capital for the capacity Sales has already quoted
- Maintain the integrated forecast as the single source of truth for capacity planning, used by Sales, Operations, Finance, and leadership alike
- Run the recurring S&OP review where the five functions align on one plan, with a documented decision log
- Track forecast accuracy by input, feed variance back to each owning function, and drive accuracy improvement over time
Program Management
- Own end-to-end program plans, milestones, and dependency maps for multi-team initiatives spanning capacity, supply, systems, and process work
- Define program scope, success metrics, and decision points up front, and drive programs from definition through delivery and retrospective
- Identify risks, blockers, and resourcing gaps early, and drive them to resolution rather than reporting them
- Run the planning cadences, working sessions, and decision logs that keep multi-team programs moving and accountable
- Provide clear, candid status reporting on programs, decisions, and risks to Revenue Operations and executive leadership
- Manage change into the field and the business: plan communications, timing, and rollout so new processes are adopted rather than worked around
- Follow through after launch to confirm each program had its intended effect, and retire or simplify processes that no longer serve their purpose
Backstop Program
- Own the backstop program end to end: the process by which investment-grade partners vouch for the debt behind new data center and GPU capacity
- Build and run the backstop flywheel: pipeline of candidate partners, qualification criteria, deal structure patterns, and the repeatable process that turns a partner conversation into secured capacity
- Maintain the backstop pipeline as a tracked, forecastable asset with stage definitions, expected capacity unlocked, and timing
- Partner with Alliances and the CRO on partner-facing backstop conversations, and with Finance on the structures that make a backstop bankable
- Report backstop status, risk, and capacity implications into the executive cadence
Capacity Demand Planning
- Build and own the medium-range demand forecast for GPU capacity, data center space, and power, driven by the sales pipeline, quote flow, and committed contracts rather than trend lines
- Translate the quote and opportunity pipeline into resource requirements by product family, site, quarter, and power envelope
- Distinguish clearly between forecast, plan, and allocation, and hold the organization to that distinction
- Qualify significant incoming capacity against the demand forecast before commitment: right product, right site, right quarter, and the supporting envelope of power, space, and network to actually deliver it
- Model scenarios and sensitivities so leadership can see what a slipped site or a pulled-forward deal does to the plan
Supply, Site, and Lead Time Reconciliation
- Reconcile demand against orders, inventory on hand, inbound supply, and vendor lead times, and flag the gap before it hits a customer commitment
- Maintain the capacity data layer: the canonical view of what is ordered, what is racked, what is allocated, and what is genuinely available to sell
- Run the plan-versus-reality loop on a fixed cadence: diff planned allocations against actual deployment and utilization, surface stale or unrecorded allocations, and drive variance toward zero
- Chase discrepancies to ground, since a miscounted rack or an unassigned site today becomes a missed delivery date later
- Close the data gaps that prevent accurate planning, including site assignment and power requirements at time of quote
Allocation and Sales Support
- Operate the allocation process: who gets which capacity, in what sequence, and on what basis when demand exceeds supply
- Support the sales teams directly on capacity questions: what can be sold, from which site, on what timeline, and at what power envelope
- Support deal-level capacity commitments in partnership with Deal Desk and Sales, confirming that what is being sold can be delivered on the promised timeline
- Bring a defensible framework to prioritization decisions across segments, deal sizes, and strategic accounts, and make the tradeoffs visible rather than resolving them informally
- Escalate capacity conflicts early with a recommendation, not just a flag
Business Management Office Cadence
- Run the operating rhythm for capacity: the recurring reviews where demand, supply, backstop progress, and constraints are reconciled with Sales, Operations, and Finance
- Build and maintain the capacity views and dashboards that planning, procurement, and leadership run on, refreshed automatically rather than rebuilt by hand
- Produce executive and board-ready reporting on capacity position, constraint risk, and backstop pipeline
- Document process, decision rights, and data definitions to an auditable standard so the function survives handoff and scale
Cross-Functional Execution
- Act as the bridge between commercial teams who sell capacity and the technical teams who deliver it, translating requirements in both directions
- Drive coordination across Sales, Sales Engineering, Revenue Operations, Operations, Finance, Alliances, and Customer Success
- Partner with Revenue Operations and the data teams to systematize capacity data capture at the point of quote
- Influence without authority and build alignment across teams with competing priorities
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience spanning capacity planning, demand or supply planning, technical program management, or business operations in a hardware-intensive or infrastructure environment
- Experience running an S&OP or integrated business planning process across multiple functions, reconciling independently owned forecasts into a single plan
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional programs from definition through delivery, including programs with a significant systems or data component
- Direct experience planning capacity for large-scale technical infrastructure: cloud, neocloud, data center, HPC, or a comparable internal platform
- Proficiency with core program management practices and tooling: building plans, tracking dependencies, running planning cadences, and managing risk
- Demonstrated ability to build the model yourself rather than specify it for someone else, with advanced Excel required and SQL strongly preferred
- Track record building models that survive contact with messy source data, and reconciling relentlessly so the numbers tie out or the variance is explained
- Working understanding of data center resource classes and why headline chip count is rarely the binding constraint
- Ability to translate an analysis into an action: order now, shift that, escalate this
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to distill technical and operational detail for sales and executive leadership
- Track record of influencing without authority and building alignment across teams with competing priorities
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, financial, or operational field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Profile
- Data center or colocation delivery experience: power and space planning, site acceptance, energization timelines, and vendor management
- Experience with GPU or accelerator fleets, including procurement lead times and hardware generation transitions
- Familiarity with capacity commitments, reserved capacity structures, or private offers with cloud and neocloud providers
- Exposure to project or asset financing, debt structures, or partner-backed capital arrangements
- Experience building a program management framework or a programs function in a rapidly scaling organization
- Proficiency with program management tooling such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent
- Comfortable operating in a high-growth environment with evolving processes and cross-functional ambiguity
- Prefers simple, inspectable models to clever opaque ones, and instruments their own forecast error
- Automates refreshes rather than rebuilding by hand
- Operates with autonomy: takes scope without being asked and drives it to resolution without waiting for perfect information
