Security Operations Analyst
Job Description
About The Role
We're looking for experienced Security Operations Analysts to help evaluate and improve AI systems designed for modern SOC environments. Your real-world expertise in threat detection, alert triage, and incident response will directly shape how AI reasons through security scenarios — making these systems smarter, faster, and more accurate for analysts everywhere.
This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of cybersecurity and frontier AI development, working with top research labs to build the next generation of security-focused AI tools.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
- Analyze realistic SOC incident and alert scenarios to assess what is happening, why it matters, and what the appropriate response should be
- Classify alert severity, identify root causes, and recommend remediation actions based on your professional judgment
- Review AI-generated detection logic, triage decisions, and investigation workflows for accuracy and realism
- Validate AI outputs to ensure they reflect how experienced analysts actually think and operate
- Provide structured, detailed feedback that helps AI systems learn from your expertise
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in a SOC, incident response, or security operations role
- Familiar with SIEM platforms, alert triage processes, and investigation workflows
- Skilled at distinguishing genuine threats from noise and false positives
- Strong written communication skills — able to explain your reasoning clearly and concisely
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on asynchronous, task-based assignments
- Experience with threat hunting, digital forensics, or red/blue team operations
- Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, or SANS
- Prior involvement in AI evaluation, data annotation, or training workflows
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top security researchers and AI labs
- Fully remote and flexible — complete tasks on your own schedule
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global community of experts
- Make a meaningful impact on how AI understands and responds to real-world security threats
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
