Job Description
Senior AI Agent Developer / AI Platform Engineer (.NET/Python)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AI Agent Developer / AI Platform Engineer to design, develop, and deploy sophisticated AI agents and multi-agent solutions within an enterprise Microsoft Azure environment.
This role is focused on hands-on, pro-code AI engineering using C#/.NET and/or Python, Microsoft Agent Framework, Azure AI Foundry, and Azure OpenAI. The ideal candidate will have experience building production-grade AI agents, orchestrating complex workflows, integrating enterprise systems, and developing reusable components that support scalable AI adoption.
This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering position requiring strong software development fundamentals, practical experience with agentic AI architectures, and the ability to build secure, reliable AI solutions within an enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade AI agents and multi-agent applications using Microsoft Agent Framework and C#/.NET and/or Python.
- Build sophisticated agentic workflows incorporating tool calling, state management, contextual memory, middleware, and multi-agent orchestration.
- Develop graph-based workflows supporting complex business processes, long-running operations, and human-in-the-loop interactions.
- Integrate AI agents with enterprise applications, APIs, external tools, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
- Design, develop, secure, and maintain MCP servers to enable controlled access to enterprise systems and data.
- Leverage Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI to integrate large language models (LLMs) into enterprise applications, including support for additional hosted models.
- Configure and manage Azure API Management (APIM) as an AI gateway, including API routing, authentication, token management, policies, and logging.
- Implement secure agent authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, and enterprise identity platforms such as Okta.
- Develop reusable agent components, shared services, and engineering patterns to support multiple AI development teams.
- Deploy and maintain AI applications using Azure Functions, Azure Container Apps, and other Azure-native services.
- Implement telemetry, observability, evaluation frameworks, and responsible AI safeguards to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
- Support automated deployments, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Collaborate with solution architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable AI solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Strong professional software engineering experience with C#/.NET and/or Python, including backend application development, API integrations, and enterprise software architecture.
- Hands-on experience developing AI agents using Microsoft Agent Framework, including tool integration, agent state, memory/context management, and workflow orchestration.
- Experience designing and implementing multi-agent systems, including agent-to-agent coordination, graph-based workflows, and human-in-the-loop processes.
- Strong understanding of LLM integration, prompt engineering, tool/function calling, and agentic AI design patterns.
- Practical experience with Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI, including model integration and deployment.
- Experience working with Model Context Protocol (MCP), including building, integrating, and securing MCP servers.
- Knowledge of Azure API Management (APIM), particularly AI gateway functionality, routing, policies, authentication, and monitoring.
- Experience implementing enterprise identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID, app registrations, managed identities, and/or Okta.
- Familiarity with Azure-native application services, including Azure Functions, Azure Container Apps, and Azure AI Search.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and modern DevOps practices.
- Understanding of AI application observability, telemetry, evaluation, security, and responsible AI principles.
- Ability to independently design, troubleshoot, and deliver complex technical solutions while contributing to shared engineering standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with Microsoft Semantic Kernel or AutoGen, including migration or transition to Microsoft Agent Framework.
- Experience integrating Microsoft Copilot Studio with custom-developed, pro-code AI agents.
- Familiarity with Azure landing-zone architecture, cloud networking, and enterprise security controls.
- Experience with Okta integrations for AI agents, including agent identity governance and discovery.
- Experience building AI solutions in regulated industries, particularly healthcare, with awareness of HIPAA and sensitive-data protection requirements.
- Experience developing reusable AI frameworks, shared agent components, and enterprise engineering standards.
- Proven ability to deliver technical solutions within structured development cycles and clearly defined acceptance criteria.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer who has moved beyond basic LLM integrations, chatbots, or low-code automation and has practical experience building custom AI agents and complex, production-ready agentic systems.
We are particularly interested in engineers who understand the underlying architecture of agent orchestration, can develop and secure custom MCP integrations, and have experience deploying AI applications into enterprise Azure environments.
This individual should be comfortable solving complex engineering challenges, contributing to reusable platform capabilities, and working collaboratively across technical and business teams.
This is a hands-on development role, not a prompt engineering, data science, or low-code AI configuration position.
