Senior Platform & Cloud Engineer

New York, NY | Hybrid (3 days per week in office)

We're partnering with a leading financial services firm that is investing heavily in its cloud and platform engineering capabilities. They are seeking a Senior Platform & Cloud Engineer to help build, automate, and scale the infrastructure that underpins critical business platforms.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, working directly with AWS and Kubernetes, and developing automation in Python to improve reliability, efficiency, and deployment velocity.

You'll join a highly collaborative engineering team focused on modern cloud-native technologies, infrastructure automation, and the evolution of platforms supporting next-generation data and AI workloads.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, implement, and support scalable AWS-based infrastructure.
• Administer and enhance Kubernetes environments, primarily within Amazon EKS.
• Develop automation tools and workflows using Python.
• Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines to improve software and infrastructure delivery.
• Manage cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Investigate production issues and drive improvements in system stability and performance.
• Implement observability solutions, including monitoring, alerting, and logging capabilities.
• Partner closely with software engineering teams to support application deployment and platform integration.
• Contribute to cloud security initiatives, access controls, and infrastructure governance.
• Participate in architectural discussions and influence platform engineering best practices.
• Help support infrastructure powering advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI-focused environments.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of experience within Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS services in enterprise-scale environments.
• Proficiency in Python for infrastructure automation and tooling development.
• Experience operating Kubernetes platforms, with EKS exposure preferred.
• Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code frameworks such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of modern CI/CD principles and deployment automation.
• Experience supporting distributed, cloud-native applications and microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, infrastructure security, and resilient system design.
• Proven background troubleshooting and supporting production environments.
• Understanding of high-availability architectures, disaster recovery, and operational resilience.
• Previous experience within financial services, capital markets, asset management, or banking environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering teams.
