Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and support enterprise virtualization and private cloud environments. This role applies computer science and engineering principles to the design, development, testing, and support of systems infrastructure, working across VMware, Kubernetes, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code toolchains. It exercises independent judgment, supports teammates through mentoring, and troubleshoots and resolves system issues. This is a hybrid position with a regular onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain VMware-based virtualization environments, including VCF, vSphere, VCSA, vSAN, SRM, vROps, Log Insight, and vRA
  • Build and support private cloud and virtualization platforms, including Kubernetes, on-prem, and cloud bursting
  • Administer core network and infrastructure services, including TCP/IP, DNS, FTP/SFTP, SMTP, SMB, DHCP, SSH, SNMP, and APIs
  • Implement and maintain telemetry and monitoring using Dynatrace, VMware Log Insight, and VMware vROps
  • Automate infrastructure tasks with Bash, PowerShell, and Python
  • Manage infrastructure as code using Ansible, Terraform, Packer, and Git
  • Administer Ubuntu, RHEL, and Windows Server operating systems
  • Support server hardware, including HP ProLiant, SAN, and NAS platforms
  • Troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve them
  • Participate in the full systems lifecycle, from requirements gathering and specification through development, testing, and delivery
  • Mentor teammates and provide support and constructive performance feedback
  • Work with project teams to determine scope, limitations, and effort for infrastructure initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • VMware or similar stack experience, including VCF, vSphere, VCSA, vSAN, SRM, vROps, Log Insight, and vRA
  • Private cloud and virtualization experience, including Kubernetes, on-prem, and cloud bursting
  • Knowledge of core services, including TCP/IP, DNS, FTP/SFTP, SMTP, SMB, DHCP, SSH, SNMP, and APIs
  • Telemetry experience with Dynatrace, VMware Log Insight, and VMware vROps
  • Scripting experience with Bash, PowerShell, and Python
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Ansible, Terraform, Packer, and Git
  • Operating system experience with Ubuntu, RHEL, and Windows Server and Server Core
  • Hardware experience with HP ProLiant servers and SAN/NAS storage
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, processors, and related electronic equipment
  • Knowledge of development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL
  • Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes to resolve them
  • Verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Basic mentoring skills to provide support and constructive performance feedback

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure engineer with deep VMware and private cloud experience who automates everything possible with code. They troubleshoot confidently across operating systems, hardware, and network services, work independently, and support teammates through mentoring and clear communication.
