Senior Java Engineer

Location: New York, NY - Jersey City, NJ - Onsite

About the Role

Join a platform engineering team within a larger data platforms organization. This Java backend role focuses primarily on multi-region resiliency (East-West failover and replication), with additional work on data lifecycle capabilities (retention, archiving, destruction).

Responsibilities

• Design and build Java microservices and REST APIs using Spring Boot.
• Develop backend services for multi-region failover, replication, and recovery.
• Implement lifecycle services for data retention, archiving, and secure destruction.
• Model relational databases and write efficient SQL.
• Build event-driven processing with SQS and SNS.
• Deploy on AWS and provision infrastructure with Terraform.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and Bitbucket.
• Write well-tested code, support production, and participate in code reviews.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 7-14 years of applied backend engineering experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Framework/Spring Boot skills.
• Proven experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong database modeling and SQL skills.
• Hands-on AWS: ECS, Lambda, IAM, SQS, SNS, Glue, S3, RDS, Route 53.
• CI/CD experience (Jenkins, Bitbucket).
• Terraform experience.
• Basic understanding of workflow orchestration tools.
