Job Description

Mastronardi Produce pioneered the commercial greenhouse industry in North America, and we’re now the leading greenhouse vegetable company on the continent. Our award-winning, flavorful produce is packed under the SUNSET® brand and is available at leading grocery retailers across North America. Family owned for over 70 years, we pride ourselves on having the most flavorful products and the best people in the industry. We are constantly pushing boundaries to be a leader in fresh produce innovation. We seek individuals that demonstrate our PRIDE values (Passion, Respect, Innovation, Drive, Excellence) to help us fulfill our mission to inspire healthy living through WOW flavor experiences.

Our corporate location in Livonia, Michigan is seeking a Senior Manager of Insights & Business Metrics to own the KPI, dashboard, and performance-analytics strategy for the Supply Chain Engineering department. This is a player-coach leadership role: the Senior Manager personally uses Anthropic's Claude platform (Claude.ai, Claude Code, Claude Skills, and the Model Context Protocol) as the primary toolkit for designing, building, and continuously improving the network's KPI dashboards, site scorecards, and predictive-compliance models — and leads a distributed team of Industrial Engineer – DC Performance & Reliability positions who use that KPI framework to diagnose root causes and coach Site GMs toward network Best-in-Class performance.

This role is the analytical and technical bridge between DC-floor performance data and executive decision-making: it defines what "good" looks like in measurable terms, builds the AI-enabled tools that make those metrics visible in near-real-time, and translates network-wide trends into recommendations for the VP, Supply Chain Engineering and executive leadership.

Values:

To perform the job successfully, the incumbent’s behavior must be consistent with the PRIDE values expected of all Mastronardi Produce employees: be Passionate; have Respect; be Innovative; be Driven and strive for Excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • AI-Enabled KPI & Dashboard Leadership
  • Own end-to-end design of network KPI frameworks — labor productivity, throughput, order accuracy, on-time performance, inventory accuracy, and similar site metrics — used to drive the recurring DC metrics compliance review cadence.
  • Use Claude.ai (Claude Code, Claude Skills, and the Anthropic API) as the primary platform to design, prototype, and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and automated reporting; architect the integrations connecting these tools to WMS (MPL Floor), MES, and the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Build and maintain a library of reusable Claude Skills for recurring analytics workflows — site scorecards, root-cause pattern detection, corrective-action tracking, and network benchmarking.
  • Layer in anomaly detection and predictive compliance-risk scoring to flag emerging DC performance issues before they surface in lagging metrics.
  • Establish data-governance standards for KPI definitions so that a metric means the same thing at every DC and in every dashboard.
  • Team Leadership — Industrial Engineer, DC Performance & Reliability
  • Directly lead, coach, and develop 2–3 Industrial Engineer – DC Performance & Reliability positions distributed across the DC network, growing the team as network scale requires.
  • Set the KPI definitions, dashboard requirements, and site-scorecard standards the team uses to run recurring DC metrics compliance reviews with Site GMs.
  • Review the team's root-cause analysis (5-Why, fishbone/Ishikawa, DMAIC) findings and corrective-action plans for analytical rigor and consistency before escalation to VP or executive leadership.
  • Establish onboarding, training, and career-development pathways for the team, including guidance on applying AI-assisted analytics tools in their day-to-day DC coaching work.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones and portfolio reviews with each Industrial Engineer to track site performance trends, corrective-action closure, and professional development.
  • Executive Insights & Cross-Functional Reporting: Translate DC-network KPI trends, root-cause findings, and corrective-action status into executive-ready briefings for the VP, Supply Chain Engineering, and cross-functional leadership (Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Operations).
  • Partner with the IT systems implementation team and the Supply Chain Engineering Project Manager to align KPI and dashboard work with WMS/MES rollout sequencing and process-mapping initiatives.
  • Present network performance trends and resourcing/prioritization recommendations to the VP and executive leadership team.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert and internal consultant on AI-enabled analytics for stakeholders across Operations, IT, Finance, and Sales.
  • AI Platform Stewardship-Maintain hands-on fluency with the Claude platform to personally prototype and validate new analytics capabilities before scaling them to the team.
  • Champion responsible-AI practices — data privacy, model-limitation awareness, and human-in-the-loop review — across the team's Claude-powered workflows.
  • Evaluate and pilot new AI-enabled analytics techniques (agentic workflows, predictive modeling, natural-language reporting) for broader adoption across Supply Chain Engineering.
  • Mentor the Industrial Engineer team and peer analysts on LLM-assisted development practices and responsible AI use.
  • AI-Enabled KPI & Dashboard Strategy: Own the definition, design, and Claude-powered build-out of the network's DC performance dashboards and scorecards, ensuring every metric has a clear owner, a defined calculation, and a decision it informs.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop 2–3 Industrial Engineer – DC Performance & Reliability positions, setting the analytical standards and KPI framework they use to run DC metrics compliance reviews.
  • Predictive & Anomaly Insights: Layer AI-driven anomaly detection and predictive compliance-risk scoring on top of the network's KPI base, flagging emerging performance issues before they surface in lagging metrics.
  • Executive Insight Delivery: Translate DC-network performance trends and root-cause patterns into clear, decision-ready narratives for the VP, Supply Chain Engineering and cross-functional executive leadership.

Education/Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in supply chain analytics, business intelligence, or operations research, including some team-lead or project-leadership experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience designing and deploying AI-enabled or LLM-powered analytics applications in a business environment.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Claude AI and LLM-Assisted Analytics (strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrable, hands-on expertise with Anthropic's Claude platform as a primary analytics tool, including Claude Code for LLM-assisted development, Claude Skills for packaging repeatable analytics workflows, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting Claude to enterprise systems and data sources.
  • Strong understanding of prompt engineering, context engineering, agentic workflow design, and responsible AI / guardrail design.
  • Experience building end-to-end AI-powered dashboards and internal tools, not solely as a consumer of AI chat interfaces.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and dashboard/report development.
  • Experience building and maintaining BI dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker) and integrating them with AI-generated narrative insights.
  • Working knowledge of KPI framework design, statistical process control, and anomaly-detection techniques.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub) and modern software development practices.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Demonstrated experience hiring, coaching, and developing analytical or engineering talent.
  • Ability to set technical and analytical standards for a distributed, multi-site team without daily direct oversight of each site.
  • Experience partnering with peer Senior Manager-level leaders on cross-functional initiatives and aligning competing priorities.
  • Supply Chain Domain Expertise: Working knowledge of distribution center operations, WMS/MES systems, and network performance management.
  • Proven ability to translate supply chain business problems into structured analytical and technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable performance improvement through metrics and analytics.
  • Experience integrating Claude or other LLMs with enterprise ERP platforms and supply chain execution systems (WMS, MES, TMS).
  • Experience with advanced planning platforms such as o9 Solutions, Blue Yonder, Oracle Demantra, Kinaxis or RapidResponse.
  • Experience in the fresh produce, food & beverage, perishables, or CPG industries.
  • APICS CSCP, CPIM, CLTD, or Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) certification.
  • Experience deploying analytics applications in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • People Leadership — hires, coaches, and develops a distributed analytical team; sets standards without relying on daily direct oversight.
  • Analytical Rigor — structures ambiguous business problems into quantifiable models and defensible, data-backed recommendations.
  • AI-Native Mindset — treats Claude and other LLMs as primary teammates, not search tools; continuously translates new AI capability into business value.
  • Systems Thinking — understands how KPI and dashboard decisions ripple across the DC network and the broader enterprise.
  • Business Acumen — connects metrics and analytics decisions to P&L, service levels, and strategic objectives.
  • Communication — translates technical and analytical work into clear narratives for operational, IT, and executive audiences.
  • Ownership and Delivery — moves from idea to working dashboard to measurable business outcome with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible AI Practice — applies strong judgment regarding data privacy, model limitations, and human-in-the-loop controls.
