Job Description

Staffing is seeking a Senior Rust Developer for a four-month contract opportunity. This remote position is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

About The Company

Staffing connects experienced technology professionals with organizations working on important software and cloud initiatives. For this engagement, the developer will support the advancement of an AI-powered digital signing service, helping move it from proof of concept to a dependable, production-ready solution. The project calls for a hands-on engineer who can contribute quickly, work independently, and collaborate effectively with a development team.

The work will focus on backend development, service and SDK improvements, cloud deployment, and operational readiness. The successful candidate will help strengthen the technical foundation of the service while supporting a timely transition toward production use.

About The Role

As Senior Rust Developer, you will design, develop, and enhance backend services for an AI-powered digital signing platform. You will assess the existing proof of concept, identify the work required to prepare it for production, and deliver meaningful improvements on an accelerated schedule. The goal is to help achieve production readiness within approximately the first six weeks of the engagement.

This is a remote, four-month contract role for an experienced developer who is comfortable taking ownership of technical work. You will contribute across application development and deployment, with particular attention to reliable APIs, SDKs, AWS-based services, automated delivery, and production operations. You should be able to communicate progress, surface risks, and make sound engineering decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include substantial hands-on experience programming in Rust and developing backend services. You should have practical experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native development, along with a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and production releases. Experience designing or supporting APIs and SDKs is important, as is familiarity with monitoring, logging, observability, troubleshooting, and reliability practices.

You must be able to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality results within tight timelines. Strong debugging, problem-solving, and software design skills are essential. The ability to collaborate with a team, explain technical trade-offs, and adapt to evolving project needs will also be important.

Preferred qualifications include experience taking a proof of concept or prototype into production, and familiarity with digital signing, cryptographic services, or applications that integrate AI capabilities. Experience improving the operational maturity of a cloud-based service is also valuable.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and enhance backend services using Rust, following sound software design and quality practices. Review the existing proof of concept, identify gaps and technical risks, and help establish a practical plan for production readiness. Implement the required improvements to move the solution toward a stable, maintainable release within the project timeline.

Improve and extend APIs and SDKs to support the service and its users. Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, helping make releases repeatable and efficient. Develop and support AWS-hosted services, applying cloud-native approaches where appropriate. Implement or improve observability, monitoring, and logging so that service behavior can be understood and issues can be diagnosed effectively.

Investigate defects, troubleshoot production-related concerns, and contribute to reliability and performance improvements. Collaborate with colleagues to deliver features, share progress, and resolve technical challenges. Take ownership of assigned work, communicate blockers promptly, and contribute effectively throughout the engagement.

Benefits

This opportunity offers a remote work arrangement and a focused four-month contract on an AI-powered digital signing service. You will have the opportunity to apply your Rust and AWS expertise to a practical production-readiness initiative, contribute to key backend and delivery improvements, and work with a team building a cloud-based solution. Compensation and any applicable contract benefits will be discussed during the hiring process and are subject to the terms of the engagement.

Equal Opportunity

Staffing is committed to providing equal employment opportunities. Qualified applicants will be considered without discrimination on the basis of any status protected by applicable law. We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences and encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
