Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems that are resilient and high-performing.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
• Develop and automate operations around backup, recovery, data migrations, and scaling.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and database queries.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely responses to production escalations.
• Conduct regular performance tuning and capacity planning to match our growth trajectory.
• Implement best practices for database security, compliance, and data privacy policies.
• Assist in the evaluation and integration of new database technologies and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Database Administration, or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
• Experience with cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and database-as-a-service offerings.
• Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python, Bash, or Go, for automation purposes.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.
• Sound understanding of database security practices and backup/recovery strategies.

Technologies & Tools

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will work with a variety of technologies and tools relevant to the position, including but not limited to PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS S3, Terraform, Grafana, Prometheus, as well as configuration management tools like Ansible or Chef. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks is also essential for facilitating efficient development workflows.
