Overview

Maven Machines is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend development to join our dynamic team. This role entails designing and implementing robust backend systems that drive our applications, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions and will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from concept through deployment and maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality scalable backend systems and services.
• Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to gather requirements and transform them into technical specifications.
• Implement server-side logic, database schema, and optimization of applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Engage in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve code quality and team performance.
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues, implementing fixes as necessary to ensure an optimal production environment.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to provide recommendations for enhancements and new solutions.
• Contribute to unit testing and integration testing of applications to ensure reliability and robustness of solutions.
• Support the DevOps team in deployment processes and lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Expertise in one or more relevant programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Strong experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Proficiency in software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
• Demonstrated experience in designing RESTful APIs and microservice architectures.
• Proficient understanding of version control systems, preferably Git.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.

Technologies & Tools

The Senior Software Engineer will work with various modern technologies and tools, including but not limited to Java, Python, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or Azure cloud services, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB. Familiarity with CI/CD tools and frameworks is also important to support our agile development processes.
