Product Engineer, Full Stack (Healthtech, NYC)

New York, NY, in the office five days a week

I’m working with a fast-growing, VC-backed healthtech start-up in New York building a consumer app that helps millions of people get and keep their health coverage. Most people who lose cover don’t lose it because they stopped qualifying. They lose it to paperwork, and this team is building the product that fixes that. They’ve recently raised their Series A, are growing fast, and engineering is next.

The Role

There’s no product team here. Engineers own the product. You’ll be handed a real slice of it, talk to the people using it, decide what to build and ship it. The team is AI-native and everyone builds with Claude Code, so the job is less about typing code and more about judgement, quality and getting the right thing in front of users.

Typical work includes:

• Owning product features end to end, from the API through to the UI
• Talking to customers, users and the operations team to decide what to build next
• Shipping AI features into the product, including voice agents
• Measuring what moves the needle and acting on it
• Reviewing other engineers’ pull requests and setting the quality bar for a growing team

Tech Stack

TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python, FastAPI, Postgres, AWS, Claude Code.

What they’re looking for

• 2 to 6 years building software, with features you’ve owned from start to finish
• Time at a high-growth start-up, a strong engineering company, or both
• You care about quality and user experience, and you give and take a good code review
• You communicate clearly and like being close to the business and the customer
• The stack is flexible: smart engineers who pick things up quickly are what count
• Visa sponsorship considered for the right person
