Software Engineer (APIs, SQL) - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack solutions across Agile teams. The role focuses on Python, API development, SQL, Spark, and AWS services, with an emphasis on serverless architecture and job orchestration.

The engineer will also build and improve deployment pipelines, troubleshoot complex technical issues, apply modern architecture and design patterns, and debug across multiple layers of application and infrastructure. The position requires effective collaboration and proactive communication with technical, product, vendor, and enterprise stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack technical solutions.
• Use programming languages, open-source technologies, relational and NoSQL databases, containers, and AWS services, with a focus on serverless architecture.
• Implement software within clearly defined domains independently and combine standards and practices for more complex implementations.
• Create fully featured local build and deployment pipelines and enhance existing deployment pipelines.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving local builds and deployment pipelines.
• Apply modern application architecture and design patterns in moderately complex domains and guide others on their use.
• Debug issues across backend, frontend, middleware, infrastructure, databases, pipelines, and distributed systems, from local environments through production.
• Identify root causes, implement fixes, and correct affected data.
• Develop features that improve user experience while addressing relevant non-functional requirements.
• Communicate proactively with technical, product, vendor, and enterprise stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and API design and development.
• Strong experience with SQL and Spark.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and serverless architectures.
• Experience with job orchestration tools such as AWS Step Functions or Airflow.
• Proven experience building and improving CI/CD pipelines and local build systems.
• Ability to apply and teach modern application architecture and design patterns.
• Experience debugging distributed systems across multiple environments.
• Effective and proactive stakeholder communication.
