Role Overview

eNGINE is seeking a Software Engineer with strong C# and .NET development experience to build, enhance, and maintain business-critical applications. This role is primarily focused on backend development, including application logic, integrations, APIs, and database-driven functionality.

The ideal candidate brings a hands-on engineering mindset and can contribute to technical discussions around solution design, architecture, and implementation approaches. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating with other developers, and translating design concepts into reliable, maintainable code. Experience with e-commerce applications or online marketplaces would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain application functionality using C# and .NET, with an emphasis on backend services and business logic.
  • Contribute to solution design discussions, helping evaluate technical approaches, application architecture, and implementation trade-offs.
  • Build and maintain APIs, service integrations, and data-driven application components.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that supports application performance, scalability, and long-term reliability.
  • Work with relational databases to develop queries, support data access patterns, and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Collaborate with technical team members and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical software solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing applications through refactoring, debugging, and targeted enhancements.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting to maintain development quality and consistency.
  • Take features from initial design through hands-on development, testing, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience developing applications with C# and .NET.
  • Strong backend development skills, including business logic, application services, APIs, and data access.
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to technical design conversations and evaluate different implementation approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, troubleshoot, and maintain production-quality code.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and common design patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through technical challenges independently.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to software development.
  • Ability to work on-site five days per week in Munhall, PA.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with .NET Core and related application development frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Entity Framework or other object-relational mapping (ORM) tools.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with external systems.
  • Knowledge of asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and application performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with version control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices.
  • Experience developing or supporting e-commerce applications, online marketplaces, or transactional platforms.
  • Exposure to frontend technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, or React, while maintaining a primary focus on backend engineering.
