About the Opportunity:

The SOFTWARE ENGINEER role is designed for an early-to-mid-career professional seeking significant ownership and growth within a small engineering team. This position involves developing and maintaining backend features, addressing production issues, and enhancing system reliability for a mature financial platform. The engineer will play a key role in delivering secure, accurate, and efficient solutions that directly impact customer experience and operational integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain backend product features primarily using Python, Django, and relational databases.
• Utilize AI-assisted coding tools for problem investigation, implementation, testing, and documentation improvement.
• Critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and performance.
• Translate customer feedback into actionable technical problems and solutions.
• Manage tasks from investigation through deployment and follow-up.
• Build and maintain APIs, asynchronous jobs, integrations, internal tools, and data workflows.
• Write clear, maintainable code with automated test coverage.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Enhance system reliability, observability, documentation, and development processes.
• Ensure financial correctness, data integrity, and customer privacy.
• Take increasing ownership of features and technical decisions.

Requirements:

• Early-to-mid-career professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with relational databases including design, querying, and debugging.
• Familiarity with APIs, automated testing, Git, and collaborative development.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools responsibly.
• Strong debugging skills and attention to data impact.
• Understanding of application concerns like authorization, concurrency, retries, and failure handling.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Careful approach to handling sensitive financial data.
• Comfortable with broad ownership in a small team environment.
• Curiosity, humility, and willingness to learn.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Salary Range: USD 130,000 to 155,000 per year plus annual bonus.
