Job Description
About The Company
Lockheed Martin is a global aerospace, defense, and security company that develops technologies and solutions for complex challenges. The company works across areas including aeronautics, space, missiles and fire control, and rotary and mission systems. Its teams combine engineering, research, and operational expertise to support customers and missions around the world. At Lockheed Martin, software and cyber capabilities are integral to the development and operation of advanced systems. Employees contribute to work where secure, reliable technology can help address demanding mission requirements.
About The Role
Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced software engineering professional to design, develop, test, and maintain secure cyber software and systems. In this role, you will build software solutions using Python and C/C++, investigate vulnerabilities, and help integrate software with hardware platforms and operating environments. You will collaborate with technical teams and support cyber operations by developing and maintaining capabilities aligned with project and mission needs.
This position is suited to a senior engineer with substantial experience delivering software in complex environments. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from understanding technical requirements and evaluating design options to implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance. Your work will require sound engineering judgment, attention to security, and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly. You will also help identify and resolve integration issues so that software functions effectively with its intended systems and operational context.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have at least 15 years of software engineering experience and an active U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility and a Polygraph. The required clearance must be active at the time of consideration and maintained as required for the position.
Candidates should have professional experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software, including the ability to work with Python and C/C++. Experience researching vulnerabilities and integrating software with hardware and operating environments is important. The successful candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Clear written and verbal communication skills are valuable for documenting technical work, sharing findings, and coordinating development and integration activities.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain secure software and systems in support of cyber and engineering needs. Create and improve solutions using Python and C/C++, applying appropriate software engineering practices throughout development. Research vulnerabilities, assess potential technical issues, and contribute to the development of solutions that support secure system operation.
Integrate software with hardware platforms and operating environments, troubleshoot defects, and help resolve compatibility or performance concerns. Develop and execute tests, analyze results, document findings, and support corrective actions. Work with engineering, cybersecurity, and operational stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver maintainable capabilities. Provide technical support for cyber operations, communicate risks and progress, and contribute to continuous improvement of software quality, security, and reliability.
Benefits
