Job Description
At The ReWork Group, we partner with high-growth startups and forward-thinking companies to build the future.
Most agents are demos. This one will touch money.
We need builders, not ticket-takers.
At a big company, you can spend a year shipping one feature behind three layers of approvals. Here, you'll ship something real in your first few weeks, and you'll see customers use it. Our client is a venture-backed startup in Atlanta with a small, senior engineering team. We're looking for software engineers who can pick up whatever matters most this quarter (backend, frontend, infrastructure, data) and take it from idea to production.
This isn't a role with a narrow lane. That's the point.
What you'll own
- End-to-end features. Scope, build, test, ship, and maintain features across the stack, from database schema to API to UI.
- Production reliability. Own what you ship once it's live. That means monitoring, alerting, debugging, and fixing root causes, not just symptoms.
- System design. Make pragmatic architecture decisions that balance speed now against scale later, and document the tradeoffs.
- Customer impact. Work directly with product, design, and customer-facing teams to understand the problem before writing the code.
- Code quality. Write clean, tested, reviewable code, and give thoughtful code reviews that make the team better.
- Internal tooling and automation. Build the tools, scripts, and pipelines that help a small team move like a much bigger one, including using AI coding tools where they actually help.
- Shaping the team. Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and engineering practices as we grow.
Who you are
You're a generalist who's comfortable being dropped into an unfamiliar part of the codebase and making it better. You care more about solving the customer's problem than about using a particular framework. You communicate clearly, ask good questions early, and flag risks before they become fires. You like the ambiguity of a startup, and you have the judgment to know when "good enough" is good enough and when it isn't.
What you bring
- Experience. 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally including time at a startup or on a small team.
- Full-stack range. Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (for example Python, TypeScript/Node, Go, or Java) and working comfort with a modern frontend framework (for example React).
- Data fundamentals. Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar), including schema design and query performance.
- Cloud and deployment. Hands-on experience deploying and operating services on a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), plus familiarity with CI/CD and containers.
- Ownership. A track record of shipping features end-to-end and supporting them in production.
- Education. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
