Software Engineering Manager

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. In this player-coach role, you will lead our web application team, spending a significant portion of your time actively writing code and building features while simultaneously providing people management, technical guidance, and mentorship to engineers. As our platform scales, you will help foster engineering excellence and refine our development culture.

The ideal candidate has a passion for tackling complex technical problems, extensive experience with modern full-stack web applications, and a consensus-driven approach to engineering leadership.

• Technical Leadership & Architecture: Partner with the team to define architectural standards, drive high-quality web application development, and champion AI-enabled development workflows and tooling.
• Hands-On Development: Actively contribute to codebases, lead by example in code reviews, and ship features that power our pharmacy and health-tech workflows.
• People Management & Mentorship: Manage, mentor, and support direct reports on the web application team. Conduct 1:1s, support career growth, provide actionable feedback, and facilitate team decision-making through consensus.
• Cross-Functional Delivery: Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data Engineering, and leadership to align engineering deliverables with key business milestones.

• Experience: 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading full-stack engineering teams or managing direct reports in a tech environment.
• Full-Stack & Web Expertise: Deep hands-on proficiency building and shipping modern full-stack web applications and API services.
• Player-Coach Mindset: Passion for combining individual coding contributions with empathetic leadership and developer enablement.
• Modern Tooling & AI Integration: Familiarity with leveraging modern AI tools and automated harnesses to enhance developer productivity and code quality.
• Technical Stack: Strong background in modern web technologies, Python, REST APIs, React, and database architecture.
• Communication: Strong and clear communication skills, with the ability to articulate design and technical decisions effectively across the team and stakeholders.
