Sr Accountant (Yardi)

The Senior Accountant handles financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and transaction accounting for commercial properties, ground-up development projects, and multi-tiered investment entities. This role collaborates with asset managers, development teams, and joint venture partners to ensure accurate financial statements and GAAP compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Track construction and development costs by project, manage job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, retainage, and project cost summaries.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial packages (Balance Sheets, Income Statements, Cash Flow Statements) in compliance with GAAP.
• Oversee accounting for property acquisitions and dispositions, equity contributions, capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations for joint ventures.
• Manage day-to-day general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, fixed asset schedules, and lease administration support (CAM reconciliations and tenant rent rolls).
• Support the creation of annual operating and development budgets, forecasts, and project pro formas while performing monthly budget-to-actual variance explanations.
• Coordinate year-end audit workpapers, manage relationships with external auditors, and ensure adherence to internal controls.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 to 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting with commercial real estate development, property operations, or private equity.
• Strong command of US GAAP and accrual-based accounting; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
